Patriotism is in fact the power that is capable of overthrowing all obstacles in its path and declaring to the whole world about our country with deep respect. That is why one of the priority areas of educational work in the classroom is moral and patriotic education, the main goals of which are as follows:
- the child's becoming a free citizen of his native country;
- gradual development of a sense of possible involvement in the destinies of the Fatherland;
- developing a high sense of pride in one’s own country and people.
Each teacher needs to take into account the main areas of work that is carried out in the lower grades in order to develop a sense of patriotism in them.

- special class hours dedicated to conversations about the native land;
- collecting necessary materials and preparing speeches about their native lands;
- thematic excursions, collective implementation of simple design work;
- introduction of elementary history lessons;

An important source of accumulation of moral qualities is in introducing schoolchildren to the world around them. The main goal of educating patriotism is the correct implementation of the country’s policy in the field of patriotic education in educational institutions. But this work does not only begin in elementary school. Children receive their first knowledge in the family circle, and then in kindergarten. And when they enter first grade, they begin to expand their horizons and continue to strengthen their love for Russia.
The goals of patriotic education that primary schools set for themselves:
- instilling in children a full sense of patriotism;
- developing respect for the historical past and culture of one’s people;
- developing the skill to systematize and comprehend the phenomena of the present, past and future;
- formation of a knowledge base about the historical and cultural wealth of Russia;
- multilateral development of the younger generation.
