ESSAY “WHY AM I A TEACHER OF RUSSIAN LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE?” material on the topic

Essay “I am a teacher” (teacher of Russian language and literature)

To be a good teacher, you need to love what you teach and love those you teach. Vasily Osipovich Klyuchevsky

A wise teacher will be able to understand and support his students when they make choices in life. It is important for everyone to believe in themselves and find their calling.

When I enter the classroom and start the lesson, I look closely into the eyes of the children. How different they are! Everyone has their own thoughts, ideas, a world that cannot be destroyed, and everyone needs to be helped to open up, to see a ray of light in everyone, to develop their own route to success. I understand that the future of this little man depends on me. I rejoice when my students become laureates of all-Russian and regional competitions, take part in holidays and projects, get carried away by the initiatives and aspirations I propose, and plan and propose their own ideas, which I want to bring to life.

The main thing for a teacher is to be himself, an example for everyone. It’s nice when students understand and perceive the teacher as a talented, patient, interesting and versatile person. To understand a student, you need to imagine yourself in his place, you need to try to think and think the same way as him. How difficult it is, but necessary. Life is an endless learning experience.

Many children are afraid and doubt their abilities - it is at this moment that they most need teacher support and attention. The opportunity to believe in yourself is so necessary! What a joy it is to see the eyes of a child who has received recognition and approval; even the smallest success is already a victory! I see my students, their smiles, the desire to comprehend the new and unexplored, and I understand that everything is not in vain, each of us is moving towards our intended goal. There are moments when it seems: I can’t do anything, and I give up, I’m tormented by doubts... Then I begin to understand that I don’t have the right to give up everything, to give up right now, when we are together, and I begin to look for a key way out to involve everyone into a common cause. None of my guys should be left alone! I found it, came up with it, and again they are united by one goal. A sparkle in the child’s eyes, an interested, joyful look, a smile from kind and encouraging words spoken at the right time. And here is the long-awaited moment of fulfillment of one dream for all. The moments of despondency pass, all that remains is the desire to live and work, to find something new and interesting to make everyone happy, and I understand that my torment was not in vain.

It is good to have children, parents and colleagues willing to learn. It inspires and makes me happy. I feel joy when I meet former students and they tell me what has changed in their lives, what they read, what they are interested in and admit that they re-read the works they studied, and they like it and perceive everything differently. This means that my lessons were not in vain; reading the works of Turgenev, Chekhov, Tolstoy, Gogol and Dostoevsky helped them in solving the issue that confronted them. My students look forward to lessons, to reflect on the fate of the heroes, new interesting ideas, creative projects, and preparation for the holidays. I watch small victories with great interest and learn a lot from my guys.

I really want to teach children to write and speak correctly, to leave a mark on their souls, to create in them the need to think, argue, and defend their point of view. Teach them what others won't teach. Show them what opportunities are open to them. Help them make decisions in life, talk to them about what worries them most at their age. And my specialty as a literature teacher gives me this opportunity, giving examples from classical Russian literature. Where, if not in literature lessons, can we talk about eternal values: benevolence, decency, mercy, nobility, betrayal, lies? I have wonderful assistants - the best heroes of world literature.

Coming home, I often remember the words of Konstantin Kushner: “Another pedagogical load can only be compared with cosmic overload.” Yes, sometimes you don’t have the strength after teaching seven lessons, but when you check your notebooks, you remember the children who expect something new and interesting from you, their words, sweet faces, admiring stories, and you understand that everything you have done, it was not in vain. It immediately becomes easier: as if wings are growing behind your back, you want to continue creating and working.

I am proud that I chose the teaching profession!
