The epic Ural Batyr is also considered one of the wonders of Bashkortostan.

Epic is a type of literature, a narrative about events supposed in the past (as if they had happened and are remembered by the narrator)

The epic “Ural Batyr” is a kind of encyclopedia of the life of the ancient Bashkirs.

The epic was passed down orally from generation to generation by poet-storytellers - sesen. In 1910, Mukhametsha Abdrakhmanovich Burangulov recorded an epic from two sesen-kuraists: Gabit Argynbaev from the village of Idris-Baymak region and Khamit Almukhametov from the village of Maly Itkul, Orenburg province. According to legend, after recording this epic, Mukhametsha Burangulov gave the narrator a horse, and he returned home on foot.

Every year, competitions for young storytellers of the Ural Batyr epic are held in the republic. In the second round, a competition of dramatizations of the epic is held.

In the Salavat region there is another miracle - Mount Yangantau, which is located at an altitude of 413 meters above sea level.

Legend has it that several hundred years ago, a local shepherd discovered the release of heat from the depths of the mountain. On one of the cold autumn days, he got very wet, tired, and, deciding to hide from the rain, on the mountainside, at the root of a large tree, he dug a small hole, lay down at the bottom of this hole and fell asleep soundly, and when he woke up, he was surprised to find that warm steam rises from the bottom of the pit. Later, he often came here to warm up. Imagine the joy and amazement of the shepherd when he noticed that the joints of his arms and legs, which had previously bothered him greatly, no longer hurt, especially in inclement weather. The shepherd shared his discovery with the local residents, and they began to use the warmth of the mountain to treat ailments. From that time on, Mount Karkosh-Tau (Berkut Mountain) began to be called Yangan-Tau, i.e. “burning mountain”. In this regard, a monument was erected to the shepherd in the Yangantau sanatorium.

Attention! Question 8!

— Why is the mountain called Yangan-tau?

Answer: The mountain is named so because warm, beneficial steam emanates from it.

Krasnousolsk mineral springs have been known since the 16th (19th) century. According to legends from the time of Ivan the Terrible, a detachment of archers and Cossacks who arrived along the Kama and Belaya rivers in Bashkiria to lay the foundation of the Ufa fort, rose upstream of the Agidel River to the mouth of the Usolka River. Here the fort was founded, which received the name Tabynsky.
