What kind of holiday is Children's Day

?

International Children’s Day
is
celebrated annually on June 1.

It was established in November 1949 in Paris, by the decision of the Congress of the International Democratic Federation of Women. The first International Children's Day was celebrated in 1950.

In addition to this day, World Children's Day (November 20), African Children's Day (June 16) and White Orchid Day (test tube baby holiday) (the first Sunday in April) are dedicated to children.

The main right of every person is the right to life. Of course, the little person also has this right. That is why in 1989 the UN adopted a special document called the Convention on the Rights of the Child. A convention is an international agreement. In it, the state commits to respect the rights of every child. And our country also signed this document, which means it promised the whole world to take care of its young citizens

International Children's Day is not only a holiday for carefree children, but also an excellent occasion for mobilizing the world community in the fight to preserve the health of the younger generation, for equal rights to education and upbringing, and for maintaining a peaceful sky over every child.

There are more than 35 million children in our country, of which only 12% can be called truly healthy. Over the last decade, according to statistics from the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, the number of children with various mental disorders has increased by a quarter, due to which cases of suicide, uncontrolled aggression and vandalism have become more frequent. In Moscow alone, teenagers attempt suicide every day.

There are also more young drug addicts; almost half of teenagers drink alcohol. For every 100 thousand population, 760 children are registered with drug treatment clinics. If we add to this a decrease in the birth rate and an increase in infant mortality, the picture of a bright future does not emerge joyful.

According to the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, out of 100 minors in our country, two are street children.

And to make this horrific picture complete, it must be added that 2,000 children die every year from abuse and about 100,000 are abused by adults every year.

What are the features of celebrating Children's Day?

Not being an official day off, Children's Day

Goal: To get acquainted with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, to understand its essence To develop your own version of the Convention, to formalize

“States Parties recognize the right of the child to rest and leisure, play, creativity and entertainment in accordance with the age of the child and free participation in cultural life and the arts.” (Convention on the Rights of the Child, 1989 Paragraph 31.1) The Convention is a legal document of international standard. The main goal of the convention is to maximize the protection of the interests of the child. Its provisions are reduced to the basic requirements that must ensure the rights of children to: survival, health, development, protection of children in various areas, the convention establishes legal norms of state responsibility, introduces a special control mechanism - the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child and vests it with high powers. The Convention calls on adults and children to build relationships on a moral, legal and pedagogical basis. Respect for the opinions, views, and personality of the child as a whole should be not only a norm of universal human culture, but also a norm of law.

Children have the right to grow and develop physically and spiritually healthy, in a normal way, in conditions of freedom and dignity.

Children have the right to special freedom and protection, to good food, housing and medical care. Children have the right to love and understanding, primarily from their parents and family, but in their absence from the government.

Children have the right to go to school free of charge, to play and have equal opportunities to develop, and to learn to be responsible and useful. Children have the right to always be among those who receive protection and help first

Children should be taught to live in peace and friendship with all people, to show attention and tolerance. They must be brought up in the consciousness that their energies and abilities must be devoted to the service of the people.
