Cute elephant
The first drawing was easy, let's complicate the task a little and draw a cute elephant with felt-tip pens. For creativity, prepare your album with drawings and a set of felt-tip pens. Now, you need to follow the instructions, and at the end, make sure that you get a beautiful picture of an elephant. How to draw an elephant easily and simply:
- Let's put the album down. Take a black felt-tip pen. Approximately in the middle of the sheet we draw a vertical wavy line, rounding it off at the end.
- Draw an unfinished oval to the top edge of the line. On the lower edge of the oval we depict an elephant's tusk. We place the second tusk near the wavy line.
- We supplement the sketch with a mark of the ear. We draw a semi-oval eye, which we end with a straight line at the bottom. In the middle of the eye we depict the pupil. We complement the sketch with a rectangular eyebrow, which can be immediately painted over with black.
- We complete the sketch of the elephant's head by drawing the trunk and the image of the left ear. Now, at the bottom of the head we draw an inclined arc and draw the front legs.
- Next, we complement the picture with a tummy and massive hind legs. Slightly below the top of the head, draw an arcuate line towards the right. This line should end on the hind legs.
- Add a tail to the elephant with a tassel at the end. We draw a rectangle on the back, draw a circle around it with a slightly larger figure and decorate the edges with a wavy line. On the paws we show the location of the toes. We figured out how to draw an elephant, but the picture still needs to be colored.
- Take a black felt-tip pen and use it to draw part of the eye. We paint the rest of it blue. We cover the raised fingers with pink. Using a gray felt-tip pen, we color the entire animal. Take a felt-tip pen a tone darker than the previous one and shade some areas on the body.
- To color the carpet that we depicted on the back of the animal, you can use any bright colors. Or you can paint it like ours. Violet, paint the area around the image circle. We paint the stripe in a circle with yellow. Paint the entire middle with red.
The elephant drawing is completed. If you follow the instructions exactly, then in a few minutes you will be able to portray this animal. There will be no difficulty during the work, because preschoolers can handle this type of painting.
You can complement the work with a drawing of a palm tree.
Stages of work:
Step
1.
Draw a large oval, the edges of which are slightly pointed. This figure will serve as the basis for the elephant's head and ears:
Step
2.
On top of the oval we determine the width of the head and draw the trunk of the animal. At the end the trunk curls slightly inward:
Step
3.
From the top of the head to the ears, add lines that connect them. Below we will draw the place where the tusks will grow from:
Step
4.
There will be quite a lot of curves on the elephant’s head, let’s draw them with lines. The place where the eyes are located will extend slightly beyond the base of the head. The tusks are not large, but they will be slightly pointed. At the end of the trunk we will add a small plane on which the nostrils will be located. The lower part of the ears has small folds, outline them along the edge:
Step
5.
You can remove the extra lines with an eraser, which previously helped us during construction. Round eyes are located far from each other, and their size is very small, relative to the entire head:
Step 6.
Now let's draw the entire body of the mammal. The elephant is captured while walking on the grass, so we draw it in a standing position. Three of his legs are clearly visible, but the fourth is blocked due to its distant location. Only the lower part of the leg peeks out. The body has a rounded shape, and the tail hangs from the back:
Step
7.
Let's move on to applying shadows. Let's draw the darkest places on the elephant's body. To do this, you can use a soft, simple pencil. It is worth noting that the light falls from the top right, similarly the shadow will be on the left side of the body:
Step
8.
We continue to apply the shadow, but here we use a hard pencil for a smoother transition. The entire trunk of an elephant, starting from the head, is covered with folds due to its hard skin. Place the folds horizontally:
Step
9.
Now we need to work out the elephant's body in more detail. We detail the folds not only on the head and trunk, but also on the legs. Using a soft pencil again, we will increase the contrast of the drawing:
Step
10.
Add some short grass under the animal's feet. Thus, we emphasize his herbivory and make the illustration more stable:
Step
11.
We complete the drawing by finalizing the missing elements. Job completed:
You have seen for yourself that drawing an elephant with a pencil can be done easily and in just a few steps. It is important to carefully construct and distribute the shadow step by step so that you end up with a realistic drawing.

How to draw an elephant step by step with a pencil:
- In the middle of the album sheet we depict an eye with a pupil. Add eyebrows on top of the eyes. You can shade it right away. Stepping back a little to the right, we draw an ear. It consists of two parts.
- A little below the eyes we draw a tusk. Add a second eye and eyebrow on the left side. Next, we add an ear to the left side.
- We add the trunk to the head, this time our trunk is directed. We put dots in the middle of the trunk and draw lines on the surface. We supplement the sketch with the second tusk.
- We draw massive front paws under the head; they need to be divided into toes at the bottom. We immediately draw the hind legs and draw the outline of the body.
- We outline the resulting picture with a thick pencil. Let's detail the image. And let's move on to shading.
- Without much pressure on the pencil, we shade the hind and front legs. Similarly, we shade the body, trunk and head. The drawing is ready.
