- Speech development
The seasons provide a wealth of material that can be used for speech therapy classes and speech games with children. Summer is no exception! There are a number of interesting changes in nature this season, and people spend a lot of time outside, working and relaxing. Visual materials allow you to show children a variety of features of this period; pictures and cards must be actively used during developmental activities.
What to tell children about summer
The main “summer” topics that can be used for conversations with children are:
- vegetables fruits;
- berries, mushrooms;
- insects, birds, animals;
- people's activities in the garden, in the forest;
- types of outdoor recreation (travel to the sea, summer sports);
- safety of children in summer.
The first of these sections are suitable for toddlers, and the rest for older preschoolers. They allow you to select pictures about summer for both very young children and future first-graders. You can use both subject images (berries, flowers, sandbox toys) and subject compositions:
- “The first day of summer has arrived!”;
- “What do children play outdoors in the summer?”;
- “What are the rules of behavior on the water and why are they needed?”
Properly selected illustrations help increase the effectiveness of speech development exercises and make them more interesting. Various pictures about summer are excellent visual material that makes it possible to conduct useful activities, as well as exciting games with preschoolers of different ages.

Observations of nature in summer
You can tell children about summer endlessly. It's so beautiful!
Summer is the next time of year after spring. Everyone is looking forward to it. In summer, everything around is transformed: the sun is shining brightly, the grass is turning green around, flowers are blooming. The air is very warm, different aromas can be heard everywhere.
How the weather changes
The air temperature rises and it becomes hot. Thanks to this, the earth and water in rivers, lakes, ponds and seas heat up. You can safely sunbathe and swim.
Often in the summer it rains warmly, accompanied by thunderstorms. A thunderstorm occurs because the raindrops that make up a thundercloud are charged with electricity, and when a large charge breaks through between two such clouds, lightning occurs, followed by peals of thunder.
But then the thunderstorm passes, the clouds dissipate and the sun very quickly takes its place again. Towards the end of summer it becomes cooler, especially at night, and we are heading towards autumn.
How animals, birds and insects live
Animals are most active in summer. There is a lot of food around, a lot of important things to do, including raising offspring and creating reserves for the cold autumn and winter.
At this time, the chicks begin to learn to fly, leave their nests, they grow actively, eat a lot and prepare for independent life. The birds are chirping with might and main.
Insects are also busy with their summer business. Bees pollinate flowers, dragonflies fly over the surface of the water, butterflies flutter in the meadow. Domestic animals graze on green pastures dotted with tasty, soft and juicy grass.
Plants in summer
In summer, all the trees put on their summer suit of bright green leaves, the grass also turns green, actively grows and reaches out to the warm sun. The abundance of sunlight promotes the formation of new buds, which will manifest themselves next year.
A beautiful colorful carpet of a variety of flowers was spread in the meadow. Fruits ripen in the garden, vegetables and herbs ripen in the garden, and berries also ripen. In the forest by the end of summer you can collect mushrooms and nuts.
Features of human activity in summer
A lot of things await a person in the summer. It's a hot time to work in fields, meadows and dachas. To grow a good harvest, you need to take proper care of it. There is weeding, pest control, watering and fertilizing of all plants. The soil is often loosened.
If the summer is dry, irrigation canals or watering installations are organized. The preparation of feed for livestock and firewood for the stove for the winter is also actively underway. Men are in the fields cutting hay, and women are engaged in harvesting and running the kitchen, preparing jam, compotes, and pickles.
Tasks
- Select one subject picture from a thematic group of images (mushrooms, berries, insects), describe it, listing as many characteristics as possible.

- Continue the sentence “Hello summer, you came to us with .....”. You can list the signs of the season, seasonal changes in the world around you. You need to complete the task based on subject or plot images on the topic.
- Tell them that animals also enjoy summer, that their lives change a lot at this time of year. The drawn animals in the pictures should be a kind of “clues”.
- Draw a verbal portrait of one of the people in the picture, describe the appearance features of one of the tourists or vacationers on the beach.
Stories about summer
There are just a lot of options for summer stories. After all, summer is such a bright annual event that always gives incredible bright emotions and moments that everyone will later remember with warmth. To get even more into the spirit of summer, its riot of colors and aromas, and learn even more about summer, read children's literature with your child about this incredible time of year. Poems about summer for school-age children
The sun began to get hot - That means summer is coming. I sat down on the bed and began to dream about it. I have quite a lot of things to do at my dacha. First of all, I would eat some sweet strawberries, then run to the lake, to take a swim, and lie around on the golden sand to my heart's content. I’ll organize a chess tournament with my grandfather in the summer, and I’ll build a hut for myself in a tree. My friend and I will go hiking on a bicycle, after which I will spend a whole year reminiscing about summer! I was dreaming about summer, I need to be more serious. I'll go and make a list so I don't forget anything! Sofya Lopatina
So much sun! How much light! So much greenery all around! What is this? This SUMMER is finally rushing into our house. Songbirds are discordant! The fresh smell of juicy herbs, ripe ears of corn in the field and mushrooms in the shade of oak forests. How many delicious sweet berries are there in the clearing in the forest! Let's eat and stock up on Vitamins for the year! I'll swim to my heart's content in the river, I'll sunbathe to my heart's content. And on my grandmother’s stove I’ll sleep as long as you want! So much sun! How much light! How wonderful the summer heat is! I wish I could make it so that summer was with me all year long!
Red summer has come to the city, to every village. Dazzling, even if you blow it away, June is on the threshold. There is a lot of sun and water, Bright flowers everywhere, Berries instead of pills - July is ending. There is a honey taste on the lips. August - melons and watermelon, So much goodness! I choose grapes. Like a huge coin, Summer rolled down the hill, I will stick to every day, If I catch up with summer.
The sun laughs
Shedding rain of freckles, the Sun laughs with us: - I give smiles to my girlfriends, Come out, you will be guests. I will paint your braids with gold, I will redden your little hands and cheeks. Even the roses will envy you! I'll sign for the summer days. Galina Rukosueva
Carefree summer
Have a carefree summer, Golden time, Festival of sun and light. Joy gives in the morning. There is nothing more beautiful In the grove of birdsong, Yellow-eyed daisies, Snow-white eyelashes. Bright blue cornflowers In the emerald grass And lilac haze Above the river at dawn. Ripe raspberries Sweet juice on the lips Like a sign of July In the forests near Moscow. Irina Butrimova
Summer
- What will you give me, summer? - Lots of sunshine! There's a rainbow in the sky! And daisies in the meadow! - What else will you give me? - The key ringing in the silence, Pines, maples and oaks, Strawberries and mushrooms! I’ll give you a cookie, so that when you go out to the edge of the forest, you shout to her louder: “Tell your fortune to me quickly!” And in response she told you for many years! Vladimir Orlov

In summer, the daily routine of the kindergarten provides for maximum exposure of children to the outdoors. It is very important that children’s lives during this period are meaningful and interesting. Children of the younger age group are just beginning to explore the world around us.
