Macronutrients
Macroelements include:
- silicon;
- potassium;
- nitrogen;
- phosphorus;
- calcium;
- sulfur;
- magnesium;
- sodium;
- aluminum.
Magnesium is part of chlorophyll, without it photosynthesis is impossible. Silicon gives strength to the stems. Potassium is involved in the formation of carbohydrates.
The most important minerals in nutrition are nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. Mineral fertilizers, as a rule, contain these three macroelements.
Both a deficiency and an excess of any element are equally harmful to plants. Plant development is disrupted in both cases.
