- Inverse problems
In the inverse problem, one of the sought quantities becomes known, and one of the given quantities becomes unknown.
Direct task:
Tanya had 3 green balls and 2 red ones. How many balls did Tanya have in total?
First inverse problem:
Tanya had 5 balls, 3 balls were green and the rest were red. How many red balls did Tanya have?
You see that the known quantity - the red balls - has become unknown.
And the unknown quantity - the total number of balls - became known.
Second inverse problem:
Tanya had 5 balls, 2 balls were red and the rest were green. How many green balls did Tanya have?
You see that a known quantity - green balls - has become unknown.
And the unknown quantity - the total number of balls - became known.
SUCH PROBLEMS ARE CALLED INVERSE.
