Reasons for disappearance

Scientists warn that several tens of thousands of species of a wide variety of plants may soon disappear from the face of the Earth. These numbers are impressive, because without plants our lives will noticeably worsen.

But why are plants disappearing so rapidly? What influences this? The main reasons why this happens have long been known:

  • deforestation in tropical forests and other regions of the planet;
  • grazing a large number of livestock;
  • use of chemicals in growing agricultural crops;
  • destruction of insects - natural pollinators of flowering plants;
  • procurement of medicinal raw materials on a particularly large scale.

If we summarize all the reasons due to which the plant world suffers, then they are all associated with unreasonable and destructive human activity.

Specially protected natural areas (SPNA)

Reserve

The reserves maintain conditions that promote the preservation of the entire natural complex in its natural state. All economic activities are prohibited. Here the land is not plowed and the grass is not cut. Hunting, fishing, and picking mushrooms and berries are prohibited in nature reserves.

National Park

A national park is an area in which human economic activity related to the use of natural objects is largely limited. However, visiting national parks for tourism and walking purposes is generally permitted.

Wildlife sanctuaries

To protect certain species of plants and animals, reserves of state and local significance are created. Material from the site https://wiki-med.com

Red Book

In order for humanity to know which species of animals and plants are in danger of complete extinction, it was decided to create a special publication - the Red Book, which describes rare and endangered species.

This is a state document that calls for protecting those plants that may disappear from the face of the Earth forever. The Red Book advises on how to preserve rare plant species, encourages them to be carefully studied and treated with care.

Rice. 2. Red Book

Plants subject to protection include the common snowdrop, Lady's slipper, Crimean peony, purple pine and many others. Their destruction is punishable by law.

The Red Book got its name for a reason, because red is a warning, a sign of danger, of alarm. It, like a red traffic light, warns people that trouble may happen if they do not change their attitude towards nature.

Plant Protection Message

The message “Endangered plant species and their protection” will briefly tell you a lot of useful information about conservation actions aimed at preserving endangered species of flora. Also, a report on plant protection will help prepare for the lesson.

Plant Protection Message

Everyone knows that all life on the planet depends on plants. But, nevertheless, human activity has led to a decrease in the species diversity of many plants on the planet. Therefore, it is very important to keep the flora intact.

How is plant protection carried out?

Plants in need of protection are included in the Red Lists and Red Books, and reserves and environmental protection zones are created.

  • Red Book. Rare and endangered organisms are listed in the International Red Book, the publication of which began in 1966. Those plant species that need protection in a particular country are included in the national Red Book. Thus, more than 450 mushrooms and plants are registered in the Red Book of Ukraine. Its pages contain data about their structure, numbers, distribution, biological features and planned conservation measures. The collection of plants listed in the Red Book, as well as their seeds and fruits, is strictly prohibited.
  • Green Book. It was first created in Ukraine. It contains a list of unique and typical plant communities for a particular area. More than 120 plant communities are included in the Green Book, as well as unique virgin steppes, systems of alpine meadows and Carpathian forests.
  • Nature protected areas . They are created to preserve diverse plant communities. These are national natural parks, reserves, and wildlife sanctuaries that are a national treasure. Thus, 8 national natural parks and 20 reserves have been created on the territory of Ukraine. The collection of plants and mushrooms, economic activities, and hunting are prohibited on their territory. Such nature reserves as Chernomorsky, Askania-Nova, and Karpatsky are of international importance.
  • Botanical Gardens . They are created for the purpose of acclimatization, study and preservation of typical and rare species of flora. But the main purpose of botanical gardens is to carry out educational work to develop a caring attitude towards nature among people.
  • Environmental legislation. It is impossible to protect the flora without the functioning of the appropriate legislative framework. After all, laws regulate issues related to environmental management and environmental protection. First of all, this is due to the Constitution of Ukraine. On its basis, other regulations and laws are developed.

For statistics, in Ukraine there are 24 dendrological parks (Obroshinsky, Sofievka, Alexandria), 260 reserves, 120 natural monuments, botanical parks (Botanical Garden named after Academician A.V. Fomin, Botanical Garden of Kharkov University, Donetsk Botanical Garden, Central Botanical Garden named after N.N. Grishko, Nikitsky State Botanical Garden).

Plant protection measures

Nature protection is one of the important problems of all humanity, which is dealt with at the state level.

The most serious measure to preserve the flora is the careful protection of their natural habitat. For these purposes, special natural complexes are created in each country, in which all plants and animals are under state protection.

Let's look at some of them:

  • reserves are protected natural complexes in their natural state. Hunting and any economic activity are strictly prohibited, and land cannot be sold or bought.

The Barguzinsky Nature Reserve is the very first protected area in Russia, created in 1916. The reason for this was the catastrophic decline in the sable population, which was exterminated for its valuable fur.

Rice. 3. Barguzinsky Nature Reserve.

  • Sanctuaries are a natural area in which, unlike a reserve, not the entire natural complex is protected, but a separate part of it, where rare species of plants or animals live.
  • A botanical garden is a green area where collections of living plants - representatives of flora from all over the world - are grown and studied.

But not only the state should take care of the safety of plants. Every person should understand the great value of every tree, every flower.

While walking through a meadow or forest, you should not trample the grass, mindlessly pick flowers and collect them into bouquets that will wither in a couple of hours anyway - that’s what garden flowers are for. Under no circumstances should you break the branches of bushes and trees - this is a serious wound that can cause the plant to get sick and even die.

3. Studying new material.

Aesthetic moment.

Teacher. Listen to an excerpt from V. Nabokov’s poem “Children of the Fields”:

Cornflower, delicate periwinkle,

Forget-me-nots, scarlet poppy, Mint, snow-white lily of the valley, Dandelion, thin grass... All these flowers and herbs that bloomed in spring, These are all the dear children of the Gentle Mother Earth.

The amazing world of plants! Thousands of flowers decorate the earth. Flowers are life itself. They have their own language, their own aroma, the power of beauty, their own history, legend, their own holidays. They have their own goddess - Flora - the goddess of flowers. Flora's head is decorated with a wreath, and in her hands is a bouquet of flowers. In honor of Flora there were special holidays called Floralia. They were celebrated for 5 days in the spring (from April 28 to May 3). On these days, the doors of houses were decorated with wreaths, everyone indulged in fun, and women dressed in colorful dresses.

Reflection question: What is the role of plants in human life?

The plants that surround us in nature give us a lot: building material, fuel, raw materials for paper production, valuable medicines, all kinds of food products, livestock feed, furniture material, etc. It is simply impossible to list everything.

Vegetation cover is also of great importance as a source of oxygen, without which life on Earth is impossible. Green plants release huge amounts of oxygen into the atmosphere. To get some idea of the scale of this process, it is enough to give the following example. One average-sized tree produces enough oxygen per day to breathe for three people.

Question: What plants do you know that a person can use for his life?

Student messages:

1. “One hundred forces”

Behind the green valleys and wooded mountains in the remote Ussuri taiga, a miracle berry grows. She is called a lure. He will lure whoever you want. If you look at her, you won’t be able to take your eyes off her. Lush clusters of its scarlet berries hang like precious corals. They are beautiful, to say the least. But zamanikha is famous not for its berries, but for its roots. The healing power is hidden in them. So the rumor began to spread among the people: “An old man will try the tincture from the roots of Zamanika - and he will gain strength, like a good fellow. If a good fellow tries the tincture, unprecedented prowess and strength will awaken.” That is why the lure was nicknamed “one hundred forces.” A medicinal preparation is prepared from the rhizomes of the plant, which is used as prescribed by a doctor.

2. “Autumn bouquet”

Chrysanthemums are autumn flowers. They are very successful with us. Even in ancient times, man drew attention to the beauty of these flowers. They appeared in gardens more than two thousand years ago! In the 4th century, chrysanthemums came to Japan. And there they find a second home for themselves. The Japanese are very fond of this flower. They call it kiku, which means “sun”. The flower has become an earthly symbol of the heavenly body that gives life to everything on our planet. In the land of the rising sun, the chrysanthemum received high honor. The image of this flower appears on the state emblem and on coins. The highest order in this country is the Order of the Chrysanthemum. In late autumn, the Japanese hold a chrysanthemum festival. They decorate homes. Japanese women wear national clothes - a silk kimono with a picture of chrysanthemums. Poets and singers praise the flower. Flower growers organize numerous exhibitions. Chrysanthemums are an excellent decoration for gardens, parks, and public gardens.

The need for nature conservation

Since people actively use natural resources, very soon they can deteriorate and become depleted. The plant world may also die. To avoid this, we need to protect nature. For these purposes, botanical gardens, national parks and nature reserves are created. The territory of these objects is protected by the state; all flora and fauna here are in their original form. Since nature is untouched here, plants have the opportunity to grow and develop normally, increasing their distribution areas.

One of the most important actions for the protection of flora is the creation of the Red Book. Such a document exists in every state. It lists all species of plants that are disappearing and the authorities of each country must protect this flora, trying to preserve populations.
