Problem situation
At the technology lesson we were told about such a concept as
a smart home .
At home, I decided to learn more about this concept, found many examples on the Internet, and was surprised. Progress has reached the point where we need to do almost nothing, i.e. our house will do everything for us. Now you can turn off the light without getting out of bed. One clap and you are already in a dark room, and there are a lot of similar things now.
Our house is undergoing renovation, and I suggested to my parents the idea of installing several smart appliances. They approved of my idea and gave me the task of finding out what devices we should install.
Objective of the project
Get acquainted with the capabilities of the Smart Home system and consider the use of elements of this system for our home.
Project objectives
- Collect the necessary information on Internet sites dedicated to the integrated control system “Smart Home”.
- Analyze the needs to control our home using various sensors.
- Create a list of our problems.
- Find technologies suitable for our home.
- Determine what means our family has to implement them.
Study
I got acquainted with many sites from which I learned in detail about what is included in the concept of “Smart Home”.
It turns out that this is an authorization system for houses, offices and apartments.
Now I will tell you in detail about some.

Monitoring the condition of windows and doors allows you to determine what is currently happening in the room and take action if necessary. Sensors from all windows and doors transmit a description of the current situation via remote access. In case of unauthorized entry, the action chosen by the owner of the building is carried out (the mobile device connected to the system receives a corresponding signal, the siren turns on, the security company receives an alert, etc.) Surveillance cameras carefully record everything that happens in the room (optional - outside the building as well). All data, including video and indicator characteristics throughout the system, are carefully stored on a remote server.
Photo and video surveillance
Photo and video surveillance A video surveillance system in a smart home can be a real salvation for those people who spend a lot of time outside the home. Having equipped his home with a video surveillance system, the owner automatically receives additional “eyes and ears” regardless of where he is at the moment. In this case, you can look after your home even when you are several thousand kilometers away from home. Security cameras in a smart home can be installed in almost unlimited quantities. However, experts recommend not to get carried away with this issue and equip only the most important places in the house and in the surrounding area with video surveillance cameras. It is also advisable to install cameras in places from where you can view most of the territory.
Protection against water leaks
Protection against water leaks Now we can be sure that we won’t flood our neighbors or our home. In addition to the leakage sensor, special electromechanical taps for hot and cold water are installed, as well as for controlling them. Such a system will ensure automatic shut-off of cold and hot water when the sensor is triggered and notify us of the incident using push notifications to a smartphone, a letter to your email or SMS notifications.
Gas leak protection
Protection against gas leaks Sensors connected to the protective system controller automatically eliminate excess gas vapors entering the air. In the gas leak protection system, the main function is performed by a pump connected to the controller to pump out exhaust. Removal of excess harmful vapors is ensured by the operation of a special exhaust fan and the opening of electrically driven transoms. The system instantly detects the problem, after which it sends an emergency signal about the accident to the home owner.
Lighting control
Lighting control First, turning the light on and off depending on the level of illumination in the house and on the street (using a light sensor) and on the presence of people in the room (presence sensor is triggered). Secondly, choosing one of several lighting options in accordance with a given scenario. For example, at night, the overhead light turns off, the backlight, night light, etc. turn on. Another option is when the home theater is operating, the brightness of all turned on lamps gradually decreases until they turn off completely. The hallmark of a “smart home” is the lighting control system, which, thanks to modern technologies, can be fully automated. Just imagine how convenient and, of course, impressive it is when the light turns on by itself
Selection of specific systems
To reduce the cost of the Smart Home system for a family, you can install separate elements. For example: fire alarm, automatic shutdown of water supply, protection against water leaks, lighting control and protection against gas leaks. With the help of these systems, our family will save energy and save lives.
Self-esteem and evaluation
We all strive for comfort and safety in our home, for convenient and quick control of modern equipment. The Smart Home system was created to automate the control of equipment and make our lives more comfortable. I think that over time, more and more families will order the installation of such a system in their home.
