Presentation for the lesson on the surrounding world “Golden Ring of Russia” 3rd grade

Brief report Golden Ring of Russia

Many may consider the Golden Ring of Russia to be some kind of ancient community of cities or something similar, but in fact this phenomenon is purely touristic. Relatively recently, in 1965, a writer and journalist named Yuri Bychkov created a series of materials on ancient Russian cities and united these cities under the name Golden Ring. And indeed, if you drive through all the cities, the route is closed and passes through Moscow, so for a significant part of people it is quite convenient to travel this way.

In the classic version, there are only seven cities: Sergiev Posad, Pereslavl-Zalessky, Rostov the Great, Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Ivanovo, Suzdal, Vladimir. Each city has a long and rich history. In fact, it was there that Russian Orthodox culture and civilization arose.

Many still have ancient kremlins, for example, the famous movie “Ivan Vasilyevich...” was filmed in Rostov. Sergiev Posad is still one of the most significant centers of Orthodox culture not only in Russia, but throughout the world. Once upon a time, these cities had significant political and economic importance and only now exist mostly as tourist suburbs of Moscow.

Although modern enterprises in these cities are also worthy of mention. For example, Ivanovo is a famous center of textile and other light industries. Kostroma is famous for its crafts.

Perhaps there really is no more accessible and exciting way to learn the essence of Russian civilization than to take a trip along the Golden Ring. As said earlier, there is a classic version of the route, but since the route is tourist, there are other options. Some travel programs include up to twelve or more cities, and there is always the opportunity to choose a transport option.

The cities are united not only by land, but also by river routes. Therefore, traveling by ferry and boat is quite popular.
