All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren in mathematics (school stage) 2019-2020 academic year, 4th grade

Features of competitions for 4th grade

Olympiads for 4th grade in 2020 vary significantly in scale, as well as in the terms of the competition. Such events are regional, municipal, city and all-Russian. In terms of organization, the competition can be held both in an auditorium or class, and online. Distance Olympiads for fourth-graders are gaining more and more popularity, since when taking tests in a familiar environment, the student feels calmer and experiences less stress.

Any Olympiad for 4th grade requires preparation, which includes:

  • Repetition of the school curriculum;
  • Studying additional materials (films, literature, etc.);
  • Additional classes with teachers;
  • Participation in open lessons and lectures;
  • Practical classes on solving tasks similar to Olympiads.

We also recommend paying attention to the Olympiads for 4th grade with answers for 2019. This will help determine the approximate difficulty of the upcoming competition.

Problem 4

Three empty fruit baskets stand in a row. Dasha puts apples one at a time into the baskets in this order: first, second, third, second, first, second, third, second, first, etc. She will finish when there are 13 apples in the second basket. Which of the two baskets, the first or the third, will contain more apples? The answer needs to be justified.

Answer : There are more apples in the first basket.

Solution . Let’s divide all of Dasha’s actions into pairs as follows:

  1. she puts an apple in the first and second baskets;
  2. puts an apple in the third and second baskets;
  3. puts an apple in the first and second baskets;
  4. puts an apple in the third and second baskets
  5. and so on.

Each such pair of actions ends with Dasha putting an apple in the second basket. Thus, there will be exactly 13 pairs of actions. This means that the first basket will contain 7 apples, and the second basket will contain 6 apples.

Criteria

1 b. There is only the right answer.

4 b. The correct answer and justification are provided.

As a justification, a “picture” is counted, which shows how many apples ended up in which basket.

Distance Olympiads on our portal

On our Internet portal you can get acquainted with online Olympiads for grade 4, as well as take testing in one of the following subjects:

  • Mathematics;
  • Russian language;
  • French;
  • Computer science;
  • English language;
  • Russian literature;
  • The world around us (natural history).

The Olympiads are held in blitz poll mode. For each task, only 1 correct option is offered. If the student answers correctly, his answer is highlighted in bright green; if he is wrong, his answer is highlighted in red.

The tests contain from 8 to 15 questions of varying difficulty levels. You are given 30 minutes to complete any test, but most guys complete it much faster. The questions in these tests are not extremely difficult.

At the end of the Olympiad, it is possible to organize the receipt of diplomas for laureates and prize-winners. After all, a memorial certificate is the best encouragement for talented students, which will remain with them for a long time in memory of their first victories on the path to knowledge. You can order unique diplomas on our portal.
