At the playground
If you have a scooter or bicycle, competitions are held. The guys are divided into groups. They choose obstacles. Bushes, flower beds, and sandboxes are suitable for this. Use any objects: sticks, stones, chairs. Draw obstacles with colored chalk. Road signs are placed along the improvised roadway. They are usually made from cardboard.
Two guys are chosen to play the role of traffic lights. Each of them is given three sheets of paper with red, yellow and green circles drawn on them. You can take toys of the same shades. Chalk is used to mark a pedestrian crossing on the site. The children, alternately lifting sheets or toys of corresponding colors, regulate the movement.
Some members of each team take turns overcoming a series of obstacles using vehicles. The rest, in the role of pedestrians, move, observing traffic lights and other signs.
Victory is awarded to the team that was the first to overcome the obstacles without violations.
In a specialized area
For places where a lot of children gather, for example, a summer camp or kindergarten, this version of the game is perfect.
On an asphalt or sandy area, two parallel lines are drawn. There will be a road between them.
The children are divided into two teams with the same number of participants and placed in two columns along the second line. The teacher or counselor takes on the role of leader and stands at the first line, that is, on the opposite edge of the impromptu road.
The guys get assignments. Their meaning is to step forward on command or remain in place. If the child makes a mistake, he takes two steps back.
- The presenter says: “Green light.” Each player takes a step forward.

Questions may concern both understanding traffic lights and knowledge of traffic rules.
The players are divided into two teams. Each group of participants stands in front of two lines depicted on the floor. If the answer is yes, the children chant and take one step forward. Confused, they take two steps back.

Another version of the game is good for organizing leisure time in a kindergarten group. Children are seated on chairs. The teacher takes turns raising red, yellow and green flags, representing traffic light signals.
When they see a green flag, players clap their hands; when they see a yellow flag, they stomp. When the scarlet flag appears, the guys don't move.
Players who react incorrectly to traffic lights are eliminated. For each correct answer, participants receive chips. Then they are exchanged for a sweet gift.
In primary school
To study the rules of the road for younger schoolchildren, a simplified version of the game Traffic Light is used. Any number of children can participate. A traffic light layout, red, yellow and green cards are used.
The teacher acts as a leader. He gives the children colored cards and switches the traffic lights. The guys hold up cards of the corresponding color and explain what they mean.
The winner is the player who gave the maximum number of correct answers and managed to explain the meaning of each signal.
