Scientific research work “Homeless animals are our common problem!”

Homeless animals concept

Let us consider and study in more detail the concept of “stray animal”, where homeless animals come from and what kind of animals they usually are.

homeless animals on the streets of every city .
This is a clear indicator of human cruelty and indifference towards “lesser brothers.” After all, the most common pets that end up on the street are dogs and cats. It's no secret that a dog is called man's friend.

It's not in vain. These animals are so attached to humans that among people it is difficult to find a friend more devoted than them. There are cases from cartoons and films when, after the death or sudden departure of the owner, the dog waited for him in the same place for months.

For example, the film “Hachiko” or “White Bim Black Ear”. What could they have done wrong to deserve betrayal?

A reasonable person should be very ashamed to throw animals into the street. This is far from the behavior that should be used to respond to kindness and devotion.

From the above, we can conclude that homeless animals are animals left without owners for any reason.

Reasons for the appearance of homeless animals

It's no secret that the number of stray dogs and cats is growing every year. On the streets of our city and village you can meet cats and dogs. Dogs sometimes form packs and become dangerous to people. Stray cats can carry various diseases while living in basements.

But the worst thing is that stray animals cause in most people, at best, indifference, and at worst, a desire to hit or kill. They are very rarely fed, and even less often they are taken home. And few people think about where they came from - these unfortunate animals and what awaits them next. Sometimes they become more numerous, sometimes they disappear.

Thus, it is worth highlighting the reasons for the appearance of homeless animals.

Socially significant project on the topic “Homeless Animals”

Introduction

One day I met a stray cat. - How are you doing? - Nothing, little by little. – I heard that you are seriously ill? - I was sick. - So, you were lying in bed? - Homeless, I have nowhere to put a bed. “How strange,” I thought, “That in this huge world there is no place for homeless dogs and cats.” Do you hear, cat, come with me, It’s getting dark, and that means it’s time for us to go home! We walked with her down the street proudly and boldly - I was silent, and the cat sang quietly. What was she singing about? Perhaps about the fact that everyone needs their own home. (A. Dmitriev)

Every day I see cats on the streets of our village. I see many different cats in our yard. On TV I often hear about homeless animals. They are very rarely fed, and even less often they are taken home. And few people think about where they came from - these unfortunate animals and what awaits them next. Sometimes they become more numerous, sometimes they disappear.

Relevance and choice of research topic

The problem of homeless animals exists all over the world. In different countries it is solved differently. In rural settlements the situation with homeless animals is more or less good. And our village is no exception. There are very few dogs in our village, and there is no big problem with them. I often see stray cats. We thought:

What are homeless animals?

Where do homeless animals come from?

Have they always been homeless?

Why are stray animals dangerous?

How can we help them?

The project was implemented from September 10, 2018. until 05/15/2019

Stage 1. Preparatory

Target:

study the problem, find out people's attitude to this problem.
Completion dates:
October. At the first stage of work on the project, we searched and analyzed literature and other sources of information on this topic.

Turning to Wikipedia, we read: Homeless (stray, stray, ownerless) animals are domestic animals that do not have owners, most often stray dogs and stray cats. The Civil Code of the Russian Federation refers to stray animals as animals that presumably have an owner (for example, livestock), and which are therefore considered close to the finds.

Homeless animals are dogs, cats or other domestic animals that live in packs or alone on the streets, in doorways, and in parks. They are doomed to hunger, wandering and illness (worms, fleas, lichen, ear lice, etc.) Street animals pose many problems for people: they can bite a person, spread various dangerous diseases, etc.

We learned a lot of information about cats, they are very important for humans. They have an excellent ability to lift spirits, brighten up loneliness, and catch mice. Not everyone knows that cats can be in public service. So, to prevent mice from spoiling the priceless collections of the world-famous British Museum, a “cat company” of six cats was enlisted on its staff. Each of them receives a salary. So that no one touches the cats, and all visitors know that the cats are museum employees, they are given a uniform - a lush yellow bow is tied around their necks.

But most importantly, both dogs and cats give a person fidelity, devotion, friendship and love - in no way irreplaceable feelings.

Where do homeless animals come from?

In most cases, we humans are to blame. Every animal thrown into the street is someone’s betrayal. We must remember this and not offend those who cannot defend themselves.

We were interested: what about in other countries? Are there stray cats and dogs there?

From the Internet we learned that developed countries have the most successful experience in solving the problem of stray animals. Having an animal on the street without its owner is considered illegal. Stray animals are caught and placed in shelters. These shelters are run by charitable money. In shelters, animals are cared for and, if possible, placed with new owners.

About ten years ago in India, the “Catch-sterilize-return” method was proposed: females are caught, sterilized, vaccinated against rabies, given some kind of mark and returned back to the same street. The problem needs to be solved from the person - this is the view in many European countries where taxes on keeping dogs have been introduced. For example, in Germany, to get a dog, you need to pay a tax of 150 euros for the first dog, 300 for the second. If the dog is a fighting dog, the tax is already 650 euros. In Sweden and Norway, the tax amount depends on the size of the dog itself. Mandatory insurance in case of attack is added to this amount. Owners of fighting dogs must obtain a certificate of animal safety.

When registering ownership of a dog, it is assigned a number, the owner must engrave it on the collar or tattoo it on the ear. Many animals are given a chip costing 30 euros with information about the owner.

Another effective and fair method, when punishment is borne not by animals, but by their careless owners. Throwing an animal onto the street is a strict administrative violation, punishable by a fine of 25 thousand euros. In Italy, in this case, criminal liability is provided and up to a year in prison. Unsupervised walking is also prohibited when the dog can cause harm to passers-by. For owners of fighting dogs, special fines are provided for violation of walking and maintenance - up to 50 thousand euros. In addition, in Europe the breeding of dogs by private individuals is strictly prohibited.

The Netherlands is considered the only country in the world where there are no stray animals. They willingly share their experience and recommendations in the brochure “How Holland became free from stray dogs.” If we boil down the secret of success to a few theses, it brings together the best of international practice in the ethical treatment of animals. This includes the legal status of animals (including penalties for cruelty to them), and taxes on keeping pets, which force one to more seriously weigh the desire to have them, and mass sterilization of four-legged animals is mandatory: so that supply does not exceed demand.

We conducted a sociological survey of students

6-7 grades of our school. The total number of respondents was 72 people.

Analysis of the results allows us to draw the following conclusions:

1.Most of the students surveyed have a pet, mostly cats, cats – 75%.

2. Many would like to have more pets, although they already have a pet - 20%

3.Most children help homeless animals, which is good news - 55%

4. Many people believe that homeless animals are dangerous...

5. The majority of respondents answered that they do not take homeless people into their homes – 45%

6. To the question “How to deal with the problem of homeless animals?” Students suggested possible solutions to the problem. A majority of 62% responded that it is necessary to open shelters, but this is very rare. They offered to feed 28%, take home 35%, some 2% even suggested destroying stray animals.

Conclusion:

Let us name several reasons for the appearance of homeless animals on city streets:

1) irresponsible ownership of animals;

2) lack of training of owners in the rules of keeping animals;

3) insufficient sterilization of animals;

4) lack of shelters - places for collecting animals for transferring them to new owners;

5) lack of complete accounting of animals.

Unfortunately, little can be done by schoolchildren. Such a large-scale problem cannot be solved without government intervention. But it is also impossible to watch and do nothing.

Stage 2. Basic

Target:

draw the attention of adults and children to the existence of a problem;
carry out propaganda work to solve this problem. Deadline:
November-April The relationship between humans and animals was not easy. Sometimes they were worshiped as deities, and sometimes they were killed as enemies. Everything depended on the culture of the people. Therefore, we decided to conduct educational work about cats and dogs, about their role in human life. Class hours and extracurricular activities were held: “We are responsible for those we have tamed”, “About our little brothers”, “A dog can bite only from the life of a dog”, “Lend a helping hand”, “They need help”, “Do good”, “Make yourself a friend”, “A kind heart is a devoted friend”. Exhibitions of drawings “They believe in us”, exhibitions of essays (a letter from a homeless animal) “Help me, please”, and an action “Take me” were held.

Conclusion:

The activities of this project helped to form the correct view of the problem among the population, to create examples of safe and responsible behavior, which means that the acquired knowledge, attitudes and attitude towards the problem will be comprehended and emotionally experienced.

Stage 3. Final

Target:

inform adults and children about the existence of a problem in the village and what everyone can do to solve it. During our study, the hypothesis was confirmed. Indeed, the reasons for the appearance of stray animals on the streets are an irresponsible attitude towards pets, as well as people’s indifference to stray animals.

With our project, we tried to awaken good feelings in children and adults, call for personal responsibility for the fate of cats and dogs, and also provide all possible assistance to homeless animals. Each of us can and must contribute to reducing the number of homeless animals. Unfortunately, there is no animal shelter in our village. In addition, we realized that the world is not without good people. Despite such a complex problem, there are people who are trying to help our little brothers. They spare no effort, time and money to achieve their goals. In our village there lives a very kind woman Dalgatova Sapiyat, who feeds all the stray cats, bathes them periodically and treats them. There is no shelter in the nearest city of Khasavyurt. Creating a shelter requires considerable financial costs and support from the city administration. I hope that someday we will have our own cozy, warm shelter.

We offer

your vision of solving the problem of homeless animals:

“We believe that the problem should be solved from the very beginning: you should not throw animals out into the street, before taking them home, think about whether you can devote enough time to them.”

Our actions:

-feed and care for homeless animals;

-try to find an owner for a homeless animal;

-tell friends and adults about this problem;

-help with medicines and all possible assistance to Dalgatova Sapiyat.

We have also developed a reminder for those who want to take home an animal from the street and rules for behavior with animals.

I think the solution to this problem should begin with an amendment to the Federal Law “On the Protection of Animals from Cruelty,” opening more shelters in cities, increasing the responsibility of dog and cat owners for observing the rules for keeping animals; carry out educational activities among children and adults; sterilize animals; Conduct regular campaigns among schoolchildren and city residents.

Conclusion:

We believe that the goal of our work has been achieved. While doing this research work, we learned a lot of interesting things about both animals and people; analyzed the information received; suggested possible ways to help homeless animals.

Conclusion

Animal homelessness needs to be fought, but it is with homelessness, not with animals. The need to take measures in Russia to solve the problem of homeless animals is obvious. We have the opportunity to unite and help homeless animals. You just have to want it and everything is in our hands! In the future we plan to continue working on this topic together with teachers and classmates.

Appeal to village residents “Lend a helping hand”

Take care of animals!

There are many different animals on our planet. But we want to pay attention to our pets. After all, they are so beautiful, affectionate, smart and funny. You come home, and they sit at the doorstep and look at us with their gentle eyes. Even the soul rejoices!

But there are people who throw animals into the street. And their life becomes painful. They don't have good food, warmth or affection. They have to live in basements and on the street. They get sick and die. And so I want to appeal to everyone:

- People! Be human! Don't throw away your pets!

*Don't pass by

when you see a puppy with a broken paw, an exhausted kitten. After all, you can become the savior of a little soul!

*Remember

that the huge number of homeless dogs and cats is the result of our own monstrous negligence.

*Try it

To help such an animal, find owners for a dog or cat that lives in your yard and that you are not ready to take into your home.

*You can take a photo

animal, place the photo on websites, social networks and in the media where advertisements about animals are published.

If it is a pet that you think is lost, try to find its owners.

*Post up

advertisements with photographs for nearby yards and bus stops.

Do you think this is all complicated? Still would! But providing real help is always much more difficult than pretending to help. But this is exactly what is needed!

It’s not easy, but we can call at least a few homeless animals pets; they have found a home and will not die from cold and hunger.

The main thing is the desire to help.

“You can close your eyes to what you see, but you cannot close your heart to what you feel...”

Letter from a cat.

My name is Murka, I'm a cat. I was born in a box that people threw on the street. It was warm and soft next to my mother and brothers, but when we tried to get out of the box, it immediately became very cold. Mom said that it was winter and a blizzard outside, and we were lucky.

One day a girl came up to our box, she petted us all and left. The girl smelled pleasantly of something tasty. Later she returned and brought us milk. It was so fragrant. The girl came several times, bringing us some food. I liked her, she had warm hands.

One day I saw a girl we knew run out of the gate. Her coat was unbuttoned, she stopped and began to look around nervously. Then she noticed us and came over. The girl shouted something to the woman in the orange vest, and then took our box in her hands and carried it. She did not take our mother with her.

I thought that the girl would return us to the street, but she carried the box and we ended up at her house. The girl was talking about something with her mother, and then she started crying, I felt sorry for her. Mom stood silently, but then stroked her on the head. So we stayed in their house.

Sometimes her friends would come to visit the girl, and then one of us would be taken away.
In the end, I was left alone. They gave me a name and now I live with them. They are good, they are my family. My pet.
I want to tell you about the cat. This furry animal lives with us. I really like him, despite the fact that I have never seen such an arrogant cat anywhere.

Just recently he was still a kitten.

Gray always demands to eat, no matter how much he is fed! Without any remorse, he does not meow loudly in the kitchen, spins around underfoot, and plays.

It would be boring without a cat! When he walks in the yard, you feel that something is missing. It would seem that the house is calm. No one meows, no one sucks up, no one gets in his face with his wet mustache. I'm looking forward to this cat of mine coming!

I love it when I sit on the couch and a well-fed cat jumps onto my lap. By the way, the cat does this without invitation. On his knees, he begins to prepare a place for himself to rest. The cat amusingly tramples with its soft paws, tickles, and caresses. And then he purrs loudly, as if a tractor is rumble! For this kindness, my beloved cat can be forgiven everything.

Lost animals

Unfortunately, the huge army of stray animals is constantly replenished with lost pets. As a rule, the inattention and irresponsibility of their owners are to blame for the loss of an animal: someone did not bother to put a strong net on the window, and a curious cat fell out into the street; someone let their dog go for a walk on its own, in the hope that it would take a walk and return; ran away through an unlocked gate or got lost while walking.

If an animal is unable to find its home, then over time it joins a pack of stray animals, thereby increasing their numbers.

Abandoned animals

If you pay attention, a particularly large concentration of stray animals is observed in places where the private sector has recently been resettled or is being resettled: people move from their homes, and animals are left to fend for themselves. The dogs stay outside and do not go far from the place where their home was.

There are also those careless owners who get a dog, but over time they realize that they are not able to care for it, educate it, or bear responsibility - as a result, the dog ends up on the street.

Animal Reproduction

One of the important factors contributing to the preservation and increase in the appearance of homeless animals on the streets is the natural reproduction of animals. Cats and dogs found on the street have numerous, usually sick, offspring, which, in turn, continue to reproduce.

As a rule, people themselves contribute to this process. Unclosed garbage cans in which dogs and cats easily find food, garages, warehouses, construction sites where people feed stray animals, thereby giving them the opportunity to reproduce uncontrollably.

Of course, the desire of good people not to let a hungry dog or an exhausted cat die deserves understanding, but such help turns into evil.

Shortage or absence of animal shelters

Of course, many animals would not end up in garbage dumps and basements if every city had a sufficient number of animal shelters, but it is still not uncommon for cities to have no such shelters at all.

Thus, it is worth thinking about the fact that we are responsible for those we have tamed.

Opinion after two interviews

The first thing that caught my eye was the obvious confrontation and skepticism towards the “animal defenders’ camp.” It is not groundless. Having read some publications on the Internet, we can say that not all representatives of the “two camps” are ready to speak calmly and constructively. Discussions often devolve into personal insults. And arguments and demands often look utopian or even absurd. Therefore, we can safely say that the struggle that our second interlocutor spoke about is truly acute.

Of course, we will provide the floor and a platform for theses to animal rights activists. We are already preparing the next material with their opinion on this issue.

The editors of Vtranse.life have strengthened their position, which is based on the fact that the problem lies in the plane of human relations. And not only in handling animals. But also in relation to each other.

I would like to end with the words of Exupery: “We are responsible for those we have tamed.” True, all today’s conversations give rise to another question: “What about those who were tamed by others?..”

The problem of homeless animals and its solution

I conducted a survey. The following results were obtained.

Everyone has pets. Many of the respondents take care of animals, walk them, and play with them. All survey participants believe that there is a problem with homeless animals. Most students believe that people are to blame for the appearance of homeless animals. The rest of the students believe that animals are lost.

All survey participants treat such animals with pity, feed them, and do not harm them. According to students, stray animals can be aggressive and infectious. Students propose the following ways to solve this problem: so that people do not abandon animals, do not leave them unattended, or give them to a shelter.

Thus, it is possible to determine ways to solve the problem of homeless animals:

1. Do not throw animals outside. After all, they are so beautiful, affectionate, smart and funny. You come home, and they sit at the doorstep, wagging their tail and looking at us with their gentle eyes. Even the soul rejoices! Be responsible for your pets.

2. Do not leave them unattended. If you are going somewhere for a short time, ask your friends and neighbors to look after your pet.

3. Try to find owners for the found animals. On the street you can meet clearly domesticated but lost cats. As a rule, such animals do not go far from home, and this makes it easier to find their owners. The rescue method is simple: shelter a cat in your home and post advertisements with a photo on the entrances and poles of the area. Ask your neighbors if this cat is theirs. Along the way, take a closer look at the advertisements for the search for a missing cat - most likely, the owner himself is looking for his pet.

4. Try to arrange it. If the cat does not look lost or the search for the former owner is unsuccessful, still try to find a new home for the animal. Ask your friends and colleagues if they need a pet. Write on the Internet on thematic forums, post an ad in the local pet store - this method often helps to place the cat in good hands.

5. Contact a specialized nursery. There is probably a public organization in your city that accepts homeless animals. Together with the animal, take some useful things to the shelter - bedding, food, medicine (depending on the needs of a particular shelter) - let this be your contribution to a common good cause.

And finally, consider taking a mongrel or barn cat into your home. A true friend will appear in the family, requiring not as much care as it seems at first glance. Just imagine with what joy your pet will greet you in the evening, for whom you will become both a savior and a beloved owner. Moments of happiness for the whole family are guaranteed every day!

Always leave room in your heart for sympathy. Remember that people who help homeless animals make a big contribution to the general treasury of world kindness.

Conclusion

We often meet homeless animals. They run up to us at bus stops, at the entrances of houses and, looking into our eyes, look for that one person who could need them.

During my research, my hypothesis was confirmed. Indeed, the reasons for the appearance of stray animals on the streets are the irresponsible attitude towards pets, as well as the indifference of people towards stray animals.

In addition, I realized that the world is not without good people. Despite such a complex problem, there are people who are trying to help our little brothers. They spare no effort, time and money to achieve their goals.

We are responsible for those we have tamed. The goals that I set for myself when starting the project cannot be achieved in a year or two. Unfortunately, there are no fewer homeless animals on the streets of our city. My project is aimed at helping members of the True Friends society.

We still have a lot of work ahead, the significant results of which will be felt later, not immediately. We have great hopes, because today people are already coming to the shelter, calling, writing to an email address on VKontakte to adopt a dog or cat, and in this we see a positive and encouraging result of our activities. We warn new owners about responsibility and tell people who decide to have an animal in their home, especially for the first time, everything they need to know about animals.

During their existence, all shelters in the world have saved the lives of thousands of dogs and cats in trouble. But as long as people forget the simple truth that “we are responsible for those we have tamed,” the number of stray animals on the streets of our cities will not decrease. Think, maybe you can save another life? Go to shelter websites, look at photos of animals, read their stories - what if it turns out that one of them is exactly yours? Do not remain indifferent to the fate of those who most need your kindness and love.

Having studied the problem of homeless animals, it is worth concluding that people are responsible for the lives of animals. The kinder and more responsible people are, the fewer homeless animals there will be on our streets.

The indifferent attitude of others towards the preservation of the living world .

In Europe, animals are treated humanely and responsibly. There are practically no stray animals . Their ears and tails are not docked, and the operation “soft paws”

.
Their animal custody process some European activists even oppose the breeding of new breeds, as they consider it a mockery of the animal , an inhumane interference in its nature.
In Russia there are many times more stray four-legged animals than in any other country. According to statistics, 70% of stray four-legged animals increase every spring - it’s easier for irresponsible people to throw out or euthanize the “poor fellows”

Relevance of the project : The problem of the existence of stray animals is one of the pressing problems of our city and has adverse environmental and social consequences. And also the fact that homelessness causes great suffering for animals , their death, as well as a sanitary risk to humanity. Dogs are carriers of ecto- and endoparasites, pathogens of intestinal diseases and rabies. They themselves often become victims of human cruelty and even sadism. It is obvious that, based on sanitary, epidemiological and social points of view, it is impossible to allow animals to live and die unattended on the streets, and also cause the death of people themselves. I decided to choose this topic because it is a serious problem that needs to be solved.
