Design lesson in the senior group “Boat”

How to make a boat from A4 paper?

In the spring, with the appearance of the first streams, you can increasingly see cheerful children on the street launching homemade boats on the water. For kids, this is not just a racing game, but a significant part is the preparation for the chase itself. Making a boat with your own hands is not difficult, but in order for it to accurately perform its functions and not sink immediately after it is put on the water, you should practice a little, or better yet, help your child prepare his own ship.

There is special paper for origami, but regular A4 paper is also suitable for fun. But it is better to use very thick paper if you want to make a boat that will float. But if you use the boat as a decoration for a postcard or to decorate a photo zone, paper of regular thickness that is easy to bend will also work.

Thick A4 paper is perfect for making ships, boats, boats and other origami crafts. You can make a simple boat from such paper, the instructions are described in the first paragraph, and you can also very easily make a paper yacht with your child, decorate it and put it on the water.

To do this you need:

  • Trim the A4 sheet to make an even square
  • Mark the bend diagonally
  • Bend the sheet along the other diagonal
  • Fold the bottom corner to the center
  • Bend it back and make a “cap” by turning the corner to the top.

This is a very simple method of making origami, but for the first time it is exactly what you need.

Materials for making a paper ship

Folding various paper figures

is an ancient activity whose roots go back to Ancient China. The memories of the older generation are still fresh when they assembled paper sailboats and motor ships during boring lessons.

For a smart kid, folding a paper ship with his hands is a whole creative process

. Those who have forgotten how much fun it is to chase boats running along fast streams should remember and give these emotions to the younger generation.

No special materials are needed for this. All that is required is desire and accuracy. It’s not difficult to get paper, and for some boat making schemes you won’t even need scissors.

The sheet should have medium density

. Paper is a fairly plastic material, but if you use a sheet whose density is more than 150 g/cm2, the figure will be difficult to fold. Paper with a weight less than 70 g/cm2 will not hold its shape well. The best option is office paper measuring 210 × 297 mm. Both white and colored sheets are suitable. If one-sided colored paper is used, then it is folded with the colored surface inward - this is the only way the ship will turn out to be colored.

Thin sheets will get wet instantly. Therefore, if you plan to lower a paper toy onto the water surface, it is better to use foil, tracing paper or wrapping paper. Products made from such materials will not sink; they can be lowered into water more than once.

How to make a paper boat: a common scheme

Many lovers of arts and crafts are familiar with this instruction. Everything is elementary - you need a sheet of A4 format or any other format (most importantly, rectangular, not square), a little endurance and attentiveness. Boys usually like to make warships, so it's worth stocking up on green and red (for stars) colored paper. As already mentioned, to obtain the exterior painting of the boat, a one-sided colored sheet is folded with paint inward.

Step-by-step algorithm for folding a paper boat:

All the stages of how to assemble a paper boat were discussed above. All that remains is to decorate the resulting toy

at your discretion: under a cargo ship or a military cruiser - as you wish.

Using this scheme, the result is a long-lasting unsinkable paper boat. If you also cover the toy with a layer of acrylic paint, it will last much longer.

Beautiful boat made of colored paper

Origami today is an excellent, exciting activity for children and even adults, which develops logic, thinking, and manual dexterity. A boat is considered one of the simplest paper products. It is unique in that you can not only interest a child in the process of making origami, but there is also an excellent opportunity to play with the crafted ships on a pond.

You won't be able to make boats from regular colored paper that can be used for playing on the water. If you use ordinary thin colored paper to make parts, then in the future it is better to use the finished product to decorate a room, photo zone or postcard. But if you want to make a colored boat so that it can float on the water, then you should make a toy from special origami paper, which has a huge assortment of different colors.

You can make a boat from thin colored paper, either flat or voluminous. You need to proceed in exactly the same way as with regular white, but if you want to make a multi-colored boat without painting it with paints, then you can paste the finished boat over with another colored paper. The main thing is to pre-dry the product before using it for playing on a pond.

Large paper boat: how to make, step by step instructions

Every modern mother probably knows how to entice her child, one of such ways is origami. It’s always a fun and interesting activity that perfectly develops a child’s logic and thinking.

For beginner crafters, small or medium-sized boats are suitable, which are very easy to make. You can also play with them and put them on the water, you can make several small boats and organize races, or come up with many other activities.

But it will also be exciting for a child to create his own large ship or boat, which can be painted with his favorite colors, given a name and put on the water.

This activity is suitable not only for a child, but for the whole family; mom and dad can also take part in creating the vessel. Of course, not everyone can make a huge luxurious ship and not the first time. It’s better to try to make a simpler option, the main thing is that the result pleases the child.

For example, make a sailboat, it is perfect for playing on the water:

  • Take a square piece of paper and draw a line diagonally
  • Fold the sides to the line. Get a “kite”
  • Fold the figure in half and turn it over
  • Fold the sides towards the center
  • Expand "valley"
  • Twist the top corner and place the sailboat.

A large boat can be made in modular form. This is a type in which the figure is made from separate modules; this is quite complex and painstaking work, but such a ship will definitely surprise and interest the child. These parts are worn one on the other, they need to be selected according to color, and thus a large three-dimensional figure is obtained.

A large, voluminous boat will not only serve as an excellent addition to the interior of a child’s room, but will also be suitable as a gift.

If your child is tired of various robots and dolls, you can introduce him to paper toys. You just need to show your child how to fold a paper boat. Children are very enthusiastically immersed in the process of making paper toys: they develop ship equipment, construct masts and sails, and mold passengers from plasticine.

And launching a frigate is even more exciting than making it yourself. Even adults are addicted to folding paper boats and boats.

. Origami is an interesting family hobby that will help bring parents closer to their children.

Once outside, the paper fleet can be sent on a journey across a lake, pond or huge spring puddle. The youngest children can play with paper ships during water procedures while in the bathroom. You just need to figure out how to make a paper boat with your own hands, and then pass on the skills to your child.
