Essay “I am a speech therapist teacher”
Why do I love my profession? Behind the scenes: children are cheerful and inquisitive, parents are grateful, parents are strict, but always ready to support. Who am I? I am primarily a speech therapist, but on the eve of the magical New Year holiday I turn into the Snow Maiden, in October I am Autumn, giving joy to my beloved children.
What am I working for? For children, so that they fall in love with their speech, sounds, letters, and learn a lot of new and incredibly interesting things. For parents for whom it is so important to tell everything in detail and focus them not only on the result, but also on painstaking, daily joint work with their child. For yourself, to see the results of painstaking and sometimes imperceptible, but so important and necessary work. Also in order to continue to learn, develop and improve yourself in what you love and become a true professional with a capital P.
In my work I use a number of technologies. One of my and my children’s favorites is information and communication. With its help, the motivation of the most hooligans increases, the manuals will not get torn or dirty, and this is a huge scope for creativity! It is very important to use health-saving technologies in work, since health is the most valuable thing we have. For children who have speech problems, it is especially important to develop fine motor skills, learn to breathe correctly, and perform articulation exercises. Therefore, I use massage and self-massage, kinesiological exercises, Su-Jok, pedagogical sandbox, elements of aromatherapy, herbal medicine, puppet therapy, croup therapy and a number of other technologies in my work.
Parents... How important it is to work with them! Sometimes you don’t know with whom it’s more difficult: with a child or his always busy mother, distant father, or misunderstanding grandmother. In my opinion, it is necessary to cooperate with the entire family and close circle of the baby, since we have a common goal - clean, beautiful, correct, competent speech of our children! It’s nice to watch how, at entertainment and matinees, moms and dads return to childhood, even if only for a few minutes, but it is these moments that are the most precious and touching for us!
Despite the fact that students already come to me for internships, I love to study and learn new things in my favorite profession. At courses, seminars, and webinars, you not only learn the current state of speech therapy, but also communicate with colleagues who share their “highlights” and professional secrets. And even distance is not an obstacle to studying, thanks to the courses, I got acquainted with our capital - golden-domed Moscow!
At the moment I have the first qualification category. In the near future - the highest! Over 10 years of work, I have helped more than 100 children learn to speak beautifully, correctly and clearly. When playing with a child, I always try to put myself in his place: would it be interesting for me to help the bunny and carry out a “secret assignment”?
Without assistants, my work would not be as effective. And it’s a blessing that such people are nearby - these are my favorite teachers and educational psychologist. These are not random people in the profession. And our reward is the beautiful speech and successful studies of our graduates!
And if you go back 16 years ago, when I was just entering the faculty of defectology, I would again go to study as a speech therapist...

Essay on the topic: “My profession is speech therapist”
“When we understand our role on earth,
even the most modest and inconspicuous,
then only we will be happy"
Antoine de Saint-Exupery
As a child, I dreamed of becoming a doctor. I always wanted to help people. “Treated” my grandmothers when they were sick. She prepared “medicinal teas” and put on mustard plasters. This is probably why I became a speech therapist. After all, the profession of speech therapist combines the compassion of medicine, the wisdom of pedagogy and the insight of psychology.
My profession is multifaceted and interesting. It is chosen by creative people who are endlessly in love with their work. And it’s not for nothing that the following words are dedicated to speech therapists:
He is an educator, teacher and psychologist
He is a philologist and he is a linguist,
He is a teacher, doctor, speech pathologist
He is a diagnostician, proofreader and expert
Both consultant and observer -
A versatile specialist – speech therapist.
My career began in 2001. And for 17 years now, I have been using my experience, my knowledge, so that children speak beautifully, so that they enjoy the opportunity to communicate.
Probably, impatient people will not take root in our profession. Unfortunately, our age of information technology has had a bad impact on the world of childhood. More and more babies are unable to speak. It moves me to tears when a four-year-old child shows and even tells everything, but only... in “his” language. Yes, now he practically doesn’t lag behind his peers. But that's it for now. Speech therapists know that speech belongs to higher mental functions, such as thinking, memory, and perception. And if speech does not develop, then other mental functions do not develop. Speech in this case is an indicator that something is wrong with the child.
Speech is a social phenomenon and serves as a means of communication between people. Timely and correct speech development is a necessary condition for the formation of a child’s personality. Thanks to speech, the baby gets to know the world around him, accumulates knowledge, expands his range of ideas about objects and phenomena, and masters the norms of social behavior. With the help of speech, he expresses his needs, expresses his feelings and experiences, shares impressions about his attitude towards objects and phenomena of the reality around him. Mastering speech in preschool age is a necessary condition for a more successful, bright and eventful future life of a little person; how ready he will be to communicate in a new environment outside of kindergarten depends on this.
Today my profession is in great demand. The realization that children came to me with speech defects, and left with competent and beautiful speech, acquired new knowledge, abilities, communication skills that will help them in life and when studying at school, fills my heart with joy, pride in myself, for my kindergarten, for the fact that it was not in vain that I chose my professional path. In my work, I enjoy every creative day I live, I devote myself to my favorite work with all my soul, and devote all my free time to it.
The basis of my teaching activity is an individual approach to each child. Children are like precious stones, each of them is unique and inimitable, so it is so necessary to find the key to their individuality. In my work, I try to establish a trusting relationship with the child, interest him, and instill confidence in himself and his abilities.
I structure each of my classes so that the children and I find it interesting. It's so exciting to learn something new with your child. And every child’s success is a great joy for me! Correct speech gives confidence in oneself and one’s abilities, the opportunity to successfully master reading and writing, and therefore the opportunity for the full all-round development of the child. A speech therapist teacher must be passionate; his work combines science, play, theater, and psychology. This is the only way to achieve positive results. I use all this in my work, so children come to my classes with pleasure. How nice it is to hear their voices: “Take me, please” “I also want to go to class!” “When will you take me?”
Every day we sit with the children in front of the mirror to learn how to pronounce sounds. Lack of confidence in themselves and their abilities makes them withdraw. It is necessary to help the child believe in himself and open up. Speech therapy is not only training and education, but also a kind word, smile and charm of a speech therapist, instilling confidence in children that everything will definitely work out.
The environment plays a huge role in creating conditions for successful work with children. I try to ensure that all the objects in my office carry meaning and encourage children to do research. I create a friendly atmosphere so that children feel free and comfortable.
The joint work of a speech therapist and educators makes the child more hardworking, purposeful, confident in his abilities, and in the future, inspired by his achievements, stimulates him to conquer new heights.
Working with parents is also an integral and important part of my work. I conduct speech therapy classes not only for children, but also for mothers and fathers who must participate in the learning process of their children. I advise them to do their homework correctly. After all, the direct participation of parents in the work of the kindergarten is the key to the successful development of the child.
My work to overcome speech disorders instills in the child confidence in his own abilities and promotes the development of cognitive abilities. The boundaries of communication with both peers and adults are expanding. He becomes more open to establishing contacts with other people, more receptive to new knowledge.
The most memorable moments in my work are the children whom I help overcome speech problems, and the friendly, grateful words of their parents. Patiently, step by step, I strive to achieve my goal. I experience great joy when I hear the beautiful and competent speech of my graduates, realizing that I am the first step at the beginning of their life’s journey. My profession is the best profession, and I hope that my work will not pass without a trace, and that I will hear more than once from my matured students: “Do you remember, you taught me to speak correctly?” And I am happy that I help a child open up, instill confidence in him, and make him feel his self-worth in the small world of childhood. ...
I am grateful to my work for the ability to transform at children’s parties from a serious adult into various images of fairy-tale characters: a mischievous robber, a learned cat, a clown, etc. My work allows me to feel like a wizard - to give children and their parents a kind of “recovery”
.
I am very lucky that I work as a teacher-speech therapist and collaborate with professional teachers, experienced leaders who not only help organize the correctional process, but also create a favorable emotional atmosphere for the work of teachers and the development of the creative potential of each employee.
To be a speech therapist for me means to be a creative, individual person, constantly striving for human contact with people, with a rich inner world and vital energy. This specialty gives impetus to self-development and constant movement forward. “And I am not ashamed to admit without false modesty that I am really proud of my profession.” L. S. Koltygina.
