Quiz for 3rd grade in English “Animal World”.
Author: Marina Sergeevna Dolgikh, English teacher at preschool school No. 62. Description of material: quiz tasks include exercises to test vocabulary and grammatical skills. Students are also invited to complete creative tasks - singing a song or poem, solving riddles about animals. Students take part in various competitions: “Grammar Station”, “Poems”, “Writing”, “Solving Riddles”, “Reading”. This event helps to increase students' interest in learning English. Objectives of the lesson: to consolidate the learned vocabulary and grammar in speech, expand students’ horizons about animals, develop the ability to work in a group, develop logical thinking, linguistic conjecture, attention, imagination, creativity, and cultivate a sense of collectivism. Equipment: tables, pictures, handouts.

The first station is called “Our grammar station”. Describe the pictures and make up sentences in Present Continuous. Team 1: The tiger is jumping. The kittens are eating. Team 2: The cat is playing with a ball. The wolves are running in the forest. Team 1: The bear is riding a bike. The penguins are singing. Team 2: The cats are singing. The elephant is painting. Team 1: The rabbit is eating a carrot. The lion is running. Team 2: The tiger is cooking. The hippo is dancing. Team 1: The bear is reading. Team 2: The birds are flying. T: Make up sentences in Present Continuous or Present Simple. Be attentive! Team 1: The kitten plays computer games every day. Team 2: The snake is singing now. Team 1: The mouse reads every evening. Team 2: The cat is sleeping in the garden now. Team 1: The bear eats honey every morning. Team 2: The fish is swimming now. Team 1: The giraffes are drinking at the present moment. Team 2: The dog runs in the park every day. T: Our next station is “Poems”. Let's revise some poems.
T: The third station is “Writing”. Your task is to write the names of animals correctly. P1: a rhino; P2: a lion; P3: a tiger; P4: an elephant; P5: a monkey; P6: a parrot; P7: a giraffe; P8: a zebra; P9: a crocodile; P10: a camel; P11: a lizard; P12: a hippo; P13: a squirrel; P14: a snake; P15: a wolf; P16: a fox; P17: a bear; P18: a hare; P19: a puppy; P20: a kitten; P21: a cock; P22: a chicken; P23: a horse; P24: a pig; P25: a cow; P26: a duck; P27: a goose; P28: a fish. T: The next station is “Riddles”. If the team guesses and says the right answer, you will take one point. Team 1: Find the animal in the forest. I live in a hole Dark and warm, Safe from the rain, Snow and storm. I've got a gray coat. And two furry ears. I'm quick And full of fear (a hare). Team 2: I've got a long bushy tail. Two bright little eyes. I gather up acorns. I'm pretty and wise (a squirrel).
Team1: These animals can run fast. They've got black and white stripes. They look like horses. These animals eat vegetables but they don't eat meat (zebras). Team 2: These animals are very funny. They can run and jump fast. They like bananas very much (monkeys).
Team1: It is small and green. It lives in the pond. It likes insects (a frog). Team 2: It can run fast. It has got a long bushy tail. It is red. It likes rabbits and hares (a fox).
T: Our last station is “Reading”. Read the text and answer the questions: 1.What is the largest animal in the world? Describe it. 2.What does this largest animal like to eat? 3.Are emus from Africa? Describe them. 4.Can they fly?
