Class notes on the topic “Formula for Success” for 7th grade students
Goal: to develop in 7th grade students the concept of how to achieve success in life, how to rationally assess their own personal qualities. Objectives: • To teach 7th grade students to rationally use the allotted time to complete tasks; • Teach 7th grade students to distribute responsibilities for completing tasks in a group; • Contribute to the development of communication, creative and discussion skills of 7th grade students; • Create favorable conditions for nurturing friendly relations between 7th grade students. Form of conducting a class hour: conversation Preparatory work: selecting literature on the topic of the class hour, preparing the room for the class hour, preparing assignments for students, conducting consultations on preparing for the class hour on this topic; preparation and printing of handouts, cards of three different colors. Material support: sheets of paper, felt-tip pens and colored pencils, ballpoint pens, envelopes with working material, 3 Whatman paper, cards of three different colors, a poster with the inscription “Shop”, explanatory dictionaries of the Russian language (6-8 pieces), portraits of famous personalities. Quotes are written on the board. Major success is made up of many planned and thoughtful little things. (Vasily Klyuchevsky) The main thing in life is sincerity. Learn to portray it, and success is guaranteed. (Jean Giraudoux) High expectations are the key to success. (Sam Walton)
(Before the start of class, desks and chairs are arranged in the classroom so that all 7th grade students sit in three groups, five to seven people in each (the number of participants in each group depends on the total number of students in the class). The process of forming groups occurs by lot, but if possible, it is necessary to create workable groups).
(The teacher draws lots to distribute all 7th grade students into groups using cards of three different colors. After all students have taken their places at their desks and divided into three groups, the teacher begins the event).
Progress of the class hour
Class teacher: Good morning, guys. Today I want to start our conversation by showing portraits of personalities known to all of you. I think you all know them very well. (F. Emelianenko, D. A. Medvedev, K. Orbakaite, F. Kirkorov, etc.). (The class teacher shows photographs of famous people). Class teacher: Guys, look carefully at these photographs and answer, what do they have in common? (Students express their points of view. The class teacher leads the students to determine the name of the class topic). Class teacher: Excellent, guys! In fact, all of these individuals have achieved fame and success in life, despite the fact that they are all engaged in practically different activities. And now we will talk to you about what you need to do in order to become successful. Do you think there is a formula for success? What is its essence? (Students express their own suggestions). Class teacher: So, guys, for accurate answers to the questions we have posed, first of all we need to understand what “success” is. In order to find out, I suggest you turn to the help of explanatory dictionaries of the Russian language. Please note that you are divided into three groups today for a reason. Dividing into groups will help us work more fruitfully. Each group has several explanatory dictionaries on their desks. Your task is that you need to create a concept map for the word “success” and draw up this map on whatman paper. Whatman paper is also on your desks. You have five minutes to complete this task. (7th grade students work in groups with dictionaries and draw up a concept map). Class teacher: So, guys, I see that you all completed the first task very quickly. Let's take a look and evaluate what you have achieved. (Each group of students attaches a Whatman paper with a concept map drawn on it to the board using magnets, one of the group representatives gives a comment on the concept map). Class teacher: You see, guys, how many different meanings the concept of “success” can have. What do you guys think, which of these meanings most accurately and deeply reflects the essence of this concept? From what concept can we get an accurate answer to the following questions: (Questions are written on the board. The teacher points to them and reads). Class teacher: 1. What is the essence of success in life - a person’s huge financial fortune or mental balance? 2. Who can we consider a successful person? 3. What role can a particular person play in personal success? 4. Is success a matter of chance? 5. What helps people achieve success in life? 6. What qualities should a person have in order for him to move forward on the social or career ladder? Class teacher: Guys, I believe that when we can most accurately answer all the questions I listed, we will discover a certain formula for success. Do you agree? (Students answer). Guys, then I give you 5 minutes so that you can discuss these questions in your groups, and after 5 minutes we will listen to your answers. (Students discuss in groups the questions proposed by the teacher for 5 minutes, and then express their own point of view. The class teacher leads students to the idea that none of the definitions of the word “success” separately can give a detailed and accurate answer to the questions posed above). Class teacher: Well done, guys! So we came to the conclusion that success should be considered as a combination of many different definitions. And now, having looked at completely different definitions of the concept of “success,” I suggest you try to think a little and answer a couple more questions: • What qualities should a successful person have? • What should a person do in his life to achieve success? Class teacher: Now, guys, you will work in groups again. Please record your own answers to these two questions in the table. For each question, you can offer several answer options. The time to complete this task is 6 minutes. (Students in groups discuss two questions, confer, write down the answers in a table. In the first column of the table, students must give answers to the first question, in the second column - to the second question). Class teacher: Guys, your time to fill out the table has expired. Let's now listen to what answers you gave to the questions. (Students from each group take turns first answering the first question and then the second, giving their own comments, approaching the board and attaching tables with answers to it using magnets). Class teacher: Guys, what a great fellow you are! Now we have learned how many things need to be done in order to be a successful person in life, as well as what character traits and qualities you need to have for this. What do you guys think, do you have the whole set of necessary qualities that would help you become successful people? (Students answer the teacher’s questions). Class teacher: Guys, many of you answered that some people lack positive qualities in order to succeed in life. What qualities would each of you like to have that are missing? (Students answer the teacher’s questions). Class teacher: Great! Guys, then now we'll play a little. Imagine that you come to a supermarket. But this is not the kind of supermarket or store where you usually buy food, clothes or anything else. In our supermarket, absolutely every person, if desired, has the opportunity to buy different personality traits. How will you pay for your purchases!? Do not worry! Everything is provided! The payment for purchases will be those positive qualities that the buyer (that is, you) have in sufficient quantity. Attention! I will play a very important and main role - the role of a store salesperson! (The teacher, together with 7th grade students, plays a role-playing game. During the game, the process of buying and selling the qualities students need is carried out. Group participants take turns saying the names of the positive personality traits that they need to buy (acquire) in order to become successful people). Class teacher: Guys, now I suggest we all come up with a formula for success together. What does success consist of? I propose that each group propose one word or phrase as an answer to this question. (Students discuss possible answers to the question asked). Class teacher: Attention, guys! The following is written on the board: “success =…+…+….” Class teacher: I propose that one representative from each group come to the board and write one component of success instead of missing one.
(One representative from each group comes to the board. Students all together come up with a formula for success.) It turns out something like this: “success = luck + diligence + support of loved ones”
Class teacher: Great job, guys! Now we know the formula for success! Now that you have acquired all the necessary and important qualities in order to succeed in life, all that remains is to begin to implement the actions that you described in the second column of your tables. I am completely convinced that you guys will succeed. And now I invite each of you to show your own attitude to what we discussed during the class hour, to summarize. Please answer the questions that were posed at the very beginning of our class hour: what needs to be done in order to become successful? How to achieve success in life? (Students express their own points of view and summarize the conversation). Class teacher: Guys, I personally got the impression today that our conversation was not in vain and to some extent it will help each of you think about what you want to become in the near future, what personality traits you need to develop in yourself to in order to succeed in life. I want to end our class hour today with one parable. (The class teacher reads the text of the parable). Once upon a time there lived two friends - Anna and Tatyana. From a very early age, girls dreamed of the wonderful life of successful people. Time passed, Anna and Tatyana became adults, but only Tatyana made her dream come true. Then Anna asked her friend: “How did you manage to become so successful, Tanya?” “I just happened to be at the right time and in the right place,” Tatyana answered. Two years later, the friends met again. Tatyana only increased her own fortune, while Anna only dreamed of such success. - What's the matter, Anna? - asked Tatyana. “I’m still waiting to be at the right time and in the right place!” - Anna said desperately. Then Tatyana answered: “Anya, if you really want to be in the right place, then stop waiting, and start looking for it already!” Class teacher: Guys, I want to wish you to become successful people in life, but for this you need not to lose those wonderful personality traits and abilities that you already have at present.
