Progress of the class hour
1. Organizational moment.
Greetings. Class teacher: Hello, guys! Today our class hour will be devoted to a very important topic. Let's look at the selection of pictures that I have prepared for you. (8th grade students look at pictures that are projected on the screen).
2.Motivation for educational activities.
Determining the topic of the class hour. Class teacher: Guys, what are we going to talk about in our class today? (8th grade students answer that we will talk about smoking and the negative effects of smoking on the human body). Class teacher: Well done, guys! On the board you can see a white sheet of Whatman paper on which a tree is drawn. This tree has no leaves, only twigs.
Class teacher: Guys, each of you has a light green sticker in the shape of a leaf. Please write on it your expectations from our conversation today. (8th grade students write their expectations on stickers, and then go to the board, attaching the leaves to the tree drawn on whatman paper).
Class teacher: Great! Our tree has become so beautiful. I think that by the end of our class hour, it will be even more beautiful. Class teacher: I think that almost every person in life has asked the question: “To smoke or not to smoke?”
Everyone knows that on any pack of cigarettes we can find an inscription that says that smoking can kill and cause various diseases. But it often happens that smokers say about smoking and the consequences that can be caused by it: “It’s all nonsense!” And sometimes they even give the following argument: “Because I smoke, nothing has happened to me yet!” Personally, I would advise such smokers that they should not rest on this, because cigarettes are serious enemies that can kill a person gradually, not immediately! How to convince smokers to give up this harmful habit? Without a doubt, it is best not to be a victim of smoking. But for those who still doubt whether they should smoke or not, today I will tell you about the harmful effects of smoking on the human body, about cigarettes and tobacco. 3. Disclosure of the topic of the class hour.
Class teacher: Is it not easy nowadays to find another habit, about the negative impact of which we can know so much? But despite this, most young people continue to view smoking as a harmless hobby, and often quite fashionable. It is worth noting that there is, in fact, nothing so attractive about smoking. Brainstorming “What are the reasons for smoking?” Class teacher: Guys, what do you think are the reasons why your friends, classmates, and adults become smokers? (Students name possible reasons for smoking, the class teacher records the students’ answers on the board). Possible reasons why a person may start smoking: 1. In order to assert himself; 2. Out of ordinary curiosity; 3. In order to appear cooler and more mature in the eyes of other people; 4. In order not to be a “black sheep” in the eyes of others; 5. In order to lose excess weight; 6. Because smoking is very fashionable (according to friends). Reason No. 1: “In order to assert oneself” - smoking can make a child look ridiculous in the eyes of adults and older friends. But it is also possible to make yourself respected with the help of methods that allow you to become wittier and more talented. Such methods may include improving abilities in drawing, dancing, music, etc. Reason No. 2: “Because of ordinary curiosity” - many children and adolescents are very interested in what sensations can be experienced while smoking. Reason No. 3: “In order to appear cooler and more mature in the eyes of other people” - when children start smoking, they think that in this way they will become more respected and interesting in the eyes of other people. Reason #4: “To avoid being seen as a black sheep” - Children and teenagers often become addicted to smoking because all his or her friends smoke, but he or she does not smoke. Friends may make fun of such a child, considering him or her a “black sheep.” Tired of such ridicule, the child gives up and may also start smoking. Reason No. 5: “In order to lose excess weight” - many children think that smoking will rid them of excess weight forever, but, in fact, this is not the case. After all, smoking cigarettes only reduces appetite, but cannot guarantee that the smoker will definitely become the owner of a slim figure. Reason #6: “Because smoking is so fashionable” - Some children think that smoking is a fashionable activity.
But they don't even think about why cigarettes are no longer advertised on television these days. Smoking is not a fashionable activity at all. And this myth was most likely invented by smokers in order to justify themselves. 4. Organization of work for 8th grade students in groups.
Class teacher: And now, guys, you will work in groups. You will need to create projects about the negative effects of smoking on the human body. Your projects will be an excellent propaganda for a healthy lifestyle. (Each group of students prints out an envelope with tasks to complete and then demonstrate their own projects on the topic “Say NO to smoking!”). Task one: Try to correctly compose the beginning and end of proverbs on the topic of our class hour, and then choose one proverb for your project, which will act as the name of the project. Explain the meaning of the proverb chosen by your group. 1. Tobacco smoke 2. If you want to live long 3. Say hello with a cigarette, 4. Who doesn’t smoke or drink, 5. Smoking 6. One smokes, A) and the whole house is sick. B) harm health. C) he protects health. D) say goodbye to your mind. D) - quit smoking and drinking vodka. E) a frenzy to match. Task two: Write the names of ten activities that can replace smoking. Task three: Write quatrains based on the following rhymes: “harm - trace - lose - throw”, “spoil - smoke - cancer - tobacco”, “cigarettes - coins - ruin - joke.” Class teacher: Guys, let's see what you got.
(8th grade students present their own projects to the whole class). 5. Conversation about the dangers of smoking.
Class teacher: Great! Guys, working in groups was very productive. Now I want to introduce you to some interesting facts about smoking. 1. Cancer is considered one of the causes of death of every tenth smoker. Do not forget that lung cancer in 90 percent of diseases occurs more often in those people who smoke a lot and for a long time. 2.Smoking in combination with drinking alcohol can increase harm to the entire human body. People who smoke are more susceptible to various diseases compared to people who lead a fairly healthy lifestyle. 3. About a century ago, doctors recommended that pregnant women resort to smoking in order to avoid gaining excess weight. (But after some time, the doctors’ opinion changed dramatically). 4.According to statistics, smokers who survive a heart attack almost immediately give up their addiction. 5. The most ridiculous invention of the tobacco companies is the creation of advertising telling everyone that nicotine can help reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease in humans. 6. In the UK, it became prohibited to advertise cigarettes on television in the late sixties, and in the Russian Federation this only happened in 2005. Class teacher: Guys, did you know about such sad statistics? What else do you know about smoking, cigarettes, tobacco (Students answer). Class teacher: Do you know what substances are included in a cigarette? (Students answer). Class teacher: I suggest you look at the drawing of a cigarette. (Students look at a drawing of a cigarette, which is projected on the screen.)
Class teacher: So, guys, what substances are included in cigarettes? (Students answer that cigarettes contain nicotine, methanol, paint, cadmium, hexamine and many other harmful substances). Class teacher: In the picture we can also see that these harmful substances you named are also found in rocket fuel, toilet cleaner, batteries, lighter fluid, candles, lighter fluid, insect repellent. And this is not a complete list of all the things that contain the same substances that are also present in cigarettes. What do the facts I cited make you think about? (Students answer). Class teacher: The carcinogenic effect of nicotine in tobacco smoke is usually associated with the presence of cadmium. Guys, what is a “carcinogenic effect”? (Students answer). Class teacher: The English word “cancer” translated into Russian means “cancer”. This means that nicotine and cadmium contribute to the occurrence of this serious disease in humans. What do you think, is arsenic a friend or foe for the human body? (Students answer). Class teacher: In fact, on the one hand, arsenic is a terrible poison: it is enough for a person to swallow an insignificant pinch of its oxide or inhale arsenic hydrogen gas once to be fatally poisoned. What conclusions can we draw about the composition of cigarettes? (Students answer). Class teacher: Well done, guys! There is nothing good about cigarettes. Smoking really kills people and poisons their bodies. It is dangerous not only to smoke, but also to be a passive smoker. Who is a “passive smoker”? (Students answer). Class teacher: A passive smoker is a person who inhales the surrounding air containing the products of tobacco smoking by other people. I suggest you look at the following picture. (A picture is projected onto the screen showing how harmful smoking is to human health.)
Class teacher: Guys, do you know that being in the same room with a smoker who smokes a pack a day, a non-smoker receives in the same period a portion of tobacco smoke corresponding to 7-8 smoked cigarettes? (Students answer). Class teacher: Passive smoking is no less dangerous, so if someone around you smokes, then you need to convince him or her that this is a very bad habit. After all, a smoker in this case ruins not only his own health, but also the health of those around him. Class teacher: Guys, in your opinion, is it possible to distinguish a smoker from a non-smoker by some external signs? (Students answer). Class teacher: In fact, a person who smokes has an unhealthy complexion, yellow teeth, ugly hair, and a hoarse voice. What other signs have I not mentioned? (Students answer). Class teacher: Great!
I think many of you have noted that there is nothing fashionable or good about smoking. It is worth remembering that girls are expectant mothers. Smoking can lead to infertility. And young people are unlikely to pay attention to a girl who has an unhealthy appearance and a hoarse voice. 6. Reflection stage.
Class teacher: Guys, now I will ask you to raise your hands of those who choose a healthy lifestyle and are ready to give up such a harmful habit as smoking forever. (Students raise their hands.) Class teacher: Great! You, young people, will live happily in the 21st century, do wonderful things, help people. Now I will read for you a poem about the dangers of smoking. “Smoking is harmful,” they say. I’d rather plant a garden. In spring, let the apple trees bloom and the birds sing merrily. “Smoking is harmful,” they echo. Let the air that we breathe in the meadows admiring the flowers be fresh in the morning. “Smoking is harmful,” we repeat. And we will create a beautiful house. Let there be a home - a palace for everyone, Where there is joy and ringing laughter. “Smoking is harmful,” we know. We must be healthy. We choose dancing, sports - Football, hockey, running and skateboarding. “You can’t smoke,” you say too. And replace the cigarette in bloom with air, with friends, with the beauty of the entire planet. We will live in a clean world, create, laugh and be friends. May we all have happiness, love, health and success! Class teacher: Guys, what can we do instead of smoking? (Students answer). Class teacher: Please take dark green stickers in the form of leaves and write on them what a person can do instead of smoking cigarettes. And then go to the board and glue the leaves to the tree drawn on whatman paper. (Students complete the task, go to the board and glue leaves to a Whatman paper with a picture of a tree). Class teacher: Well done, guys. Look how elegant our tree is. It became more beautiful than it was at the beginning of class. Why do you think it became more beautiful? (Students answer that this is because they all together found possible alternatives to smoking, arguments against this bad habit). Class teacher: Great! Now, please answer the survey questions, underlining only one answer option after each question. (Students answer questionnaire questions). Class teacher: Please answer the questions posed in the questionnaire.
After each question, circle the letter that represents the answer you chose. Each question must have one answer option. There is no need to sign the form. Questionnaire

After class, did you think about your health? A ) Yes B ) No 4. After class, will you tell your friends and family about the negative effects of smoking on the human body? A) Yes B) No
7. The final stage of the class hour.
Class teacher: Guys, remember that smoking is the cause of many troubles in our lives and ruins our health. If you smoke, remember that it is never too late to quit smoking. The longer you smoke, the more dependent you become on nicotine. Take care of yourself and your loved ones! You can learn about the dangers of smoking from the leaflet that I will now give to each of you. (The class teacher distributes reminders to students). (The song “I’m quitting smoking!” performed by Alexander Buinov plays). Stay healthy! Thank you for your attention!

. Summarizing
When did tobacco appear?
Tobacco has been known in Europe, Asia, and Africa since ancient times. Herodotus has information that the Scythians and ancient inhabitants of Africa burned some plants and inhaled the resulting smoke. In Chinese pictures dating back to ancient times, there are images of the same pipes that are now used for smoking.
On October 12, 1492, Christopher Columbus landed on an unknown island (we now know that this is America), whose inhabitants presented the guests with sun-dried leaves rolled into a tube as a gift. They called this plant “tobacco”. Tobacco seeds were brought to Spain, and from there to all corners of the globe.
The spread of tobacco was facilitated by its property - the habitual craving for smoking, which was difficult for a person to cope with. Now we know about the narcotic properties of tobacco, but then extraordinary effects were attributed to it.
It cannot be said that tobacco penetrated everywhere unhindered. The Inquisition and the Church considered tobacco potion to be the product of the devil. In addition, cases of tobacco poisoning began to be observed. This forced governments of different countries to apply different penalties. There were also cruel ones. In Rome, 5 monks caught smoking were walled up alive in a monastery wall. The Persian Shah Abbas ordered the burning of a merchant who brought tobacco to a military camp. But tobacco spread, treasury revenues grew. And this has forced many governments to reconsider their attitude towards tobacco. And use it as a source of profit.
Russia.
English merchants brought tobacco to Russia in 1585 through Arkhangelsk. And it began to spread throughout the country. But for a long time it was officially prohibited by law. Tsar Mikhail Fedorovich waged a brutal fight against smokers: if he was caught smoking 1 time, he received 60 blows with sticks on the soles of his feet; 2 times - they cut my nose and ears, and sent me to distant cities. After a severe fire in Moscow in 1634, which was caused by smoking, it was banned under penalty of death.
Tobacco trade and smoking were allowed in Russia during the reign of Peter 1, who became a heavy smoker after visiting Holland. There was a misconception in society that tobacco was healing, its smoke repels diseases, evil spirits, stimulates and calms. Tobacco leaves were used as a remedy (in the form of tinctures, drops, pills, extracts). In April 1705, the Decree on the government sale of tobacco was promulgated. But mass poisonings from tobacco smoking are forcing countries to fight smoking.
Smoking statistics in Russia today are as follows.
First of all, it should be noted that Russia currently ranks first in the world in tobacco consumption. And the sad fact is that we are in first place in terms of teenage smoking.
Smoking intensity in Russia: on average, men smoke 18 cigarettes per day, women 13 cigarettes
- 7.3% of million people in Russia started smoking at the age of under 15 years, the earliest age for starting smoking is 8-10 years.
Children smoking is a very sad fact.
— at the age of 15-19 years, 7% of girls and 40% of boys smoke.
Every 10 seconds, 1 person in the world dies from the consequences of smoking.
Every 10 minutes - 60 people.
Every year – 3,500,000 people.
Let's try together to understand this important question : “To smoke or not to smoke?”
Students are asked to take one cigarette out of the pack, on which 1 reason not to smoke is written and express their point of view:
- fine for smoking.
- lungs suffer
-effect on the musculoskeletal system
- muscle dystrophy
-the cardiovascular system
-negative effect on brain activity, memory, etc.
- a large number of poisons and chemicals in one cigarette
-weakened vision
- headache
- loss of teeth
- premature aging
- stress and depression, nightmares, sleep disturbances
- impaired concentration
- the cause of unmotivated aggression, inappropriate behavior, conflict situations
- inability to say “no”
- one of the reasons for infertile marriages
-financial dependence
- inability to fully engage in sports
-enrichment of tobacco corporations
-passive smoking
Do you want to see what settles on a smoker’s lungs after one cigarette?
Conducting the experiment “Lungs after one smoked cigarette (“Smoking machine”)
Summarizing:
The harm of smoking is enormous. To avoid the severe consequences of smoking, it is better not to start smoking at all.
For students:
One of the rules of success is “Allow yourself to breathe deeply”
For adults:
No aggression. Children are not afraid - they protest without thinking about the consequences. Change authorities and idols! Dear parents, this should be you!
