Master class “Drawing autumn trees using non-traditional techniques”

Kids! — How to draw autumn

Autumn is the favorite season of Russian poets and artists, who glorified its beauty in their immortal works. And although it’s still summer outside, we already want to share with you interesting ideas on how you can draw autumn with your children. Perhaps you will like and remember something, and then after less than a month, when the colors of golden autumn will riot in the parks and forests, you will not have any problems helping your child draw a picture on the theme of autumn for kindergarten or school or just for the soul.

We have divided the article into two parts. In the first part we will teach you how to draw autumn trees in different ways. In the second part of the article we will tell you how to draw autumn leaves.

1. Autumn drawings. Drawing autumn trees

The easiest way to draw a tree is by blowing it from a straw. To do this, draw a trunk and several branches with black or brown paint, trying to leave as much paint on the paper as possible. And now the fun begins! Take a straw and blow the twigs through it. You will get a beautiful tree that looks very natural!

To make it autumn you can:

- draw a tree on a pre-prepared colored background, made in autumn tones

>>>>

- draw autumn leaves with a cotton swab or fingers

>>>>

In the last photo, the tree was drawn not by blowing it through a straw, but by using a ready-made drawing printed on a printer. You can download the tree drawing here >>>>

- make confetti with a hole punch and pour it onto the areas of the design that need to be smeared with glue before that.

>>>>

- make an applique from dry leaves

- using a regular flower sprayer, spray paint mixed with a small amount of water. If you don’t have a spray bottle, an old toothbrush or hard brush can replace it.

>>>>

2. Draw autumn. Drawings on the theme of autumn

You can also try to draw trees that are not of the usual shape, but some unusual, intricate, fabulous ones. For example, these.

This way you can draw a whole autumn forest.

3. Autumn forest. Drawing an autumn forest

Many people are probably familiar with the technique of creating leaf prints on paper. To print a sheet, you can use absolutely any paint, you will just get slightly different prints. Paint should be applied to the side with veins. You can paint the sheet either with one color or with different colors.

By printing leaves on paper, you can make postcards or something else interesting. But if you print a large sheet, it will turn out to be a real tree!

Using the same principle, you can make an entire autumn forest.

>>>>

4. Autumn applique. Application on the theme of autumn

Well, those who don’t like to draw can make an applique of autumn leaves “Autumn Forest”.

Aerial perspective

Aerial perspective is necessarily present in any landscape. What is aerial perspective? To put it simply and literally, the rules of aerial perspective say that:

The further an object or object is from the observer, the less clearly it is visible. Consequently, the further an object is from us, the less clearly we depict it.

Foreground and background

Landscape by Levitan “Spring in Italy”. In the foreground you can discern flowers on branches, boards of a wooden fence; the further from the viewer, the less clear the shapes and strokes.

"Thaw". The trees in the background and the horizon line are barely visible. In the foreground, trunks and branches and even small twigs are clearly visible.

Painting by T. Kincaid.
In the foreground you can even make out inscriptions and facial expressions of people, in the background the shapes of houses and windows are barely visible. In the foreground, you can draw out everything in detail (house bricks, patterns, wood texture, flowers, uneven tree trunks, car designs...) using rich colors. The further you go “deep” into the forest or city, the less clearly depict or miss the details, use less bright colors, add a slight haze.

How to draw a rose with a pencil

If you keep everything in a landscape in 100% focus, the viewer will get confused and a logical question will arise: “What is the main thing in this picture?” It is not typical for the human eye to see equally clearly a flower up close and one that is 20 steps away from it.

Aerial perspective makes the work more voluminous, spacious, and airy.

Color in aerial perspective

The second rule of aerial perspective reveals the essence of why this type of perspective was called “aerial perspective”?

Everything on our planet is enveloped in air. Accordingly, the further an object is from us, the more air is superimposed on it. For an observer, an object that is located in the distance takes on the color of the air space in which it is located.

Examples of work in aerial perspective

Landscape "Poppy Field". The bushes, hills, and fields in the distance acquired the warm pink-orange hue of the sunset sky and sun.

Landscape by I. Levitan. The trees and hills in the distance are covered in a haze of overcast grayish skies.

Landscape "Cypress trees in the mountains."
The mountains in the distance appear blue. The darker the sky, the more its color and light will be transmitted to everything around you. If you are painting a foggy morning, rainy or snowy landscape, the more hazy and featureless there should be in the distance. Feel free to “blur” everything that is far from the observer.

How to draw a beautiful cat

In daylight, aerial perspective can be shown schematically like this:

Schematic representation of an aerial perspective in daylight. It's just lines, but it looks like a landscape.

The rule of aerial perspective: brown in the distance becomes green, green as it moves away loses intensity and turns blue or cyan.

II. Conversation on the topic of the lesson.

In the book of Dmitry Borisovich Kabalevsky there are the following words: “...Russian artists felt the songfulness of Russian nature, and Russian composers felt the landscape nature of Russian folk song...”. The artist Isaac Ilyich Levitan and the composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky brought music and painting very closely together. And if we remember how Anton Pavlovich Chekhov saw and heard the same Russian nature, then the three arts - music, literature and painting, embodied in the work of three geniuses, will appear before us as a heartfelt song about the uniquely modest beauty of Russian nature. What we will see today. The softest and most touching poems, books, paintings and music were written by Russian poets, writers, artists and composers about autumn.

So, is there something more important in landscapes than just depicting nature?

In his landscapes, the artist reveals the internal state, the mood that nature evokes in a person’s soul; the artist of a particular landscape always appeals to our feelings. But we don’t always know how to see everything, and sometimes we pass by the beauty of our nature, because we have not yet learned to look, listen and hear nature.

But there is a great means in human life to open the eyes of those who do not see, this means is art. There are people who seem to be born to stop us and say: “Wait, don’t rush and don’t run. Stop! Look how good, how wonderful. Take a closer look, remember.”

The soulful lyrics of the Central Russian strip are a huge scope for the creativity of great people.

— Listen to the riddle poem:

If the leaves on the trees have fallen off, If the birds have flown away on a distant journey, If the sky is gloomy, if the rain is pouring, This time of year... (autumn) is called.

— You know, guys, autumn is so different! It's like there are two of them. One is joyful, warm, sunny, in lush decoration, with rich gifts. She's like a princess.

And suddenly she is the same, but already sad, sad, with the quiet cry of fine rain, in the rags of falling leaves - in a word, like Cinderella.

But we have a special love for each one.

- What are these two autumns? (“ Golden” autumn and late autumn).

— Look carefully at the artists’ reproductions. Find where “golden” is depicted and where is late autumn?

– Russian open spaces, rivers and lakes shining with silver, the gold of the evening sky and pink sunrises have always excited Russian artists, inspiring them to create beautiful landscapes.

– Why do you like looking at an artist’s painting and listening to beautiful music? What do you feel? (Admiration, surprise, I remember visiting a museum, etc.)

– Today we will go to the magical world of beauty, the world of colors, lines, light and shadow, the world of music and the poetic word, to the world of beauty.

The artist conveyed joy with warm colors, but he also used cold tones, there are fewer of them. Therefore, looking at the picture, we feel joy, pleasure from the lush beauty of nature, but at the same time, a slight sadness of saying goodbye to summer, to the falling leaves of trees, withering grass, to warmth and sun.

What kind of autumn is depicted here?

(Suggested student answers: elegant, bright, golden, cheerful)

The artist called this painting “Golden Autumn”. Why do you think he called it that - “golden”? What colors did he use? (Students' expected answers: a lot of yellow and orange paints)

— How can these colors be called in one word? What are they?

(Suggested student responses: warm).

- Well done, children! The artist was very happy when he saw this beauty. He admired her, felt this festive mood, these elegant colors of autumn. Glorious autumn! What interesting, beautiful thing did the artist see?

(Supposed student answers: beautiful birch trees, meadows, river)

- What color is the grass in the meadows? (Students' expected answer: green).

- Look carefully: is it green? No, it is brownish-green, greenish-brown, yellowish, brown. By the end of summer it had dried out from the sun. Let's take a closer look at the picture. On the left side, close to us, in the foreground, the artist painted several trees. What kind of trees are these?

(Suggested student answers: birch trees)

— Tell us about them. What are they?

(Supposed student answers: they are thin, with white trunks. Almost all the leaves on the front two have flown off. And those that are a little further away still have foliage. The foliage is golden, yellow, brownish-orange.)

“And even further away, in the background, you can see a group of birch trees. Such a group is called a “grove”. Are the leaves visible on these birch trees?

(Suggested student answer: no)

— That’s right, only barely visible trunks and lush crowns of trees are drawn - after all, the trees are far away, and the leaves cannot be seen from afar. To show that these birch trees are far away, the artist placed them on the canvas higher than the trees that we see in the foreground.

Now look at the right side of the picture. What is drawn here?

(Students' expected answer: river)

- Yes, a river. Close to us it is blue, there is even a little purple, and in the distance it is whitish-blue. Blues and purples are cool tones. Look how elegant warm orange, yellow, gold and cool blue-violet colors look together. Which colors are more popular - warm or cold?

(Students' expected answer: warm)

- In the distance, on a bend (bend) of the river, there is a lonely birch tree - bright as a candle. To her right is a round dance of greenish-brown trees. And what did the artist depict on the farthest plane, where the sky begins? (Listen to the children's answers) Yes, on the mountain we see green arable land, several houses, and then a wall of birch trees and a forest. What color is the sky?

- What is more in the picture - sky or earth? (Listen to the children’s answers) Each artist tries to express his attitude towards the Motherland through paintings. Everyone does it differently. Levitan really liked the beauty of the earth and autumn nature, and therefore the artist chose a horizontally elongated rectangle as the format for this canvas, which allowed him to depict a large expanse of earth.

Is there a sun in the picture?

(Suggested student answers: yes)

- How did you guess? We see shadows from the trees, which means there is sun. The sun has “lit” the gold of the foliage, and the trees are glowing with a bright yellow-orange light!

This is how an artist can talk about what he liked.

III. Practical part.

Today we heard music, poems about autumn, and looked at paintings by artists. We were happy and a little sad. Music, poetry and paintings gave us this joy and light, bright sadness.

Now try, like artists, to draw autumn. But don't forget that you are painting a bright golden autumn. This means that you need to choose the same sonorous, clean, rich, bright colors.

The children get to work.

You can turn on a recording of A. Vivaldi’s melody “The Seasons” (low).

IY. Physical education minute.

The wind blows in our faces, (Swing your arms towards yourself)

The tree swayed.
(Waving your arms above your head)
The wind is quieter, quieter, quieter.
(Hands lower smoothly)
The tree is getting higher and higher.
(We get up, stretch on our toes)
- Imagine that you are trees, and your hands are twigs. Try to depict: a mighty oak, a slender poplar, a weeping willow, a curly maple. (When showing trees to children, you should pay attention to the location of the branch arms and the structural features of each tree).

Y. Emotional-aesthetic assessment and self-esteem.

In the process of work, the teacher provides individual assistance to children who need encouragement and approval.

At the end of the lesson, you should consider all the works, especially highlighting those that were expressively executed, those in which you can feel the joy and brightness of golden autumn. The invented plot is also subject to evaluation. You should pay attention to the visual means used to convey the “golden autumn”.

- Let's now look at our drawings about the golden autumn. Did we manage to tell you how elegant she is? Let's admire what kind of artists we are. Did we have a joyful, elegant, golden autumn? (Children's drawings are discussed.)

- Yes, you chose very beautiful colors, came up with interesting landscapes - like real artists! Well done!

YI. Lesson summary.

V. G. Benediktov

Love painting poets! Only she, the only one, is given the Soul of a changeable sign to transfer to the canvas.

- Why do you think this poem was sung?

Autumn in your drawings is amazingly beautiful and very diverse. You have created multi-colored drawings filled with different feelings. I'm pleased with your creativity. Did you yourself like to draw the state of nature in which you invested, and the state of your soul, your feelings and mood? I would like to end our lesson with a poem by Fedorovskaya:

“Autumn spread paint at the edge, quietly brushed it across the leaves. The hazel trees turned yellow, and the maples glowed, The aspens are purple, only the oak is green. Autumn consoles: – Don’t regret summer! Look – the grove is dressed in gold!”
