Thematic planning in the preparatory group the topic of the week is “Health Week”

What is Health Week

Preserving and strengthening the health of students is one of the main goals of the pedagogical process in preschool educational institutions. Environmental problems, information oversaturation, stressful situations - these and many other unfavorable factors of modern life affect the physical and mental state of children. Kindergarten workers (teachers, nurse, physical education instructor, music director, teachers of creative clubs and sports sections in the kindergarten) constantly promote an active and healthy lifestyle.

The Federal State Educational Standard (FSES) sets out to create an educational environment in kindergarten that:

  • guarantees the protection and strengthening of the physical and mental health of children;
  • ensures the emotional well-being of children <…>

Federal State Educational Standard dated October 17, 2013

Classes in kindergarten are aimed at strengthening the physical and emotional health of children

Health Week in Kindergarten is a set of interesting events for every day of the week, the purpose of which is to maintain positive motivation for a healthy lifestyle among preschoolers and their parents. Thematic classes are perceived by children as a bright event in the life of kindergarten. The guys see that all groups take part in the preparation and implementation of Health Week, the team becomes united with a common goal - to grow healthy and enjoy every day.

Holding Health Week implements objectives for all age groups:

  • building health, increasing the endurance of the child’s body,
  • development of motor skills,
  • activation of cognitive interests,
  • development of strong-willed qualities: perseverance, desire to win, ability to lose,
  • education of empathy: the ability to empathize with comrades, the desire to help.

During Health Week, “Fun Starts” are held for several groups

Table: events during Health Week

Focus of eventsExamples
Cognitive cycle
  • Conversations: conducted by a teacher on the topic of the structure of the body and caring for it, as well as by a nurse or pediatrician, a visiting athlete, or an educational psychologist;
  • educational and research activities,
  • watching cartoons, videos, presentations on the topic of a healthy lifestyle;
  • quizzes, intellectual quests;
  • excursions: to the catering department (how to prepare proper food), to the medical unit (how to treat, vaccinate, examine), to the museum.
Physical training
  • Competitions, “Fun Starts”,
  • sports festival,
  • conducting general exercises for the entire garden,
  • demonstration performances, open lessons in sports sections of preschool educational institutions.
Artistic and aesthetic cycle
  • Carrying out crafts on the topic of healthy lifestyle: individual, collective, together with parents,
  • learning songs and poems about health and sports,
  • reading and discussing fiction on health topics,
  • creation of wall newspapers and posters.
Interaction with parents
  • Consultations for parents from a nurse, physical education director, psychologist, sports section instructors,
  • familiarizing parents with updated information on the work of the first-aid post and catering unit in the preschool educational institution,
  • family master classes and sports tournaments.

Each lesson or event is organized by a teacher in accordance with the principle of age appropriateness. This means that the topic, ways of revealing it, and tasks are selected taking into account the abilities of a specific group of children. The examples of activities given in the table can be carried out in both the junior and senior groups. These are general forms that the teacher fills with content appropriate to the age and individual characteristics of the students. For example, with children 2–3 years old there is a conversation “What is a handkerchief for?”, and with children 6–7 years old - “Viruses and germs”.

Video: lesson “Washing Doll Dasha” as part of Health Week (nursery group)

The shown fragments of a lesson in the nursery (first junior) group show a way of teaching children cultural and hygienic skills in a playful way. The teacher creates a real situation (Dasha got dirty) and a problem (how Dasha can clean herself). A methodologically competent moment - the teacher demonstrates experience during a lesson with children (checks how to clean the doll) and, having found a practical solution to the problem, gives the children the opportunity to participate.

Video: preparing vegetable salad (final event at Health Week)

Preparing a salad can be considered a useful leisure activity: the children practice their knife skills and consolidate their knowledge of the benefits of vegetables. And, of course, they try the prepared dish - this is a special feeling, an assessment of one’s activities. As an option, older preschoolers can prepare a salad (vegetable or fruit) for joint leisure time with their parents.

Video: physical education lesson “Gymnastics for a bear” in the second junior group

The photographs and video clips in this post show an excellent example of how to conduct a physical education lesson in an unusual way. The instructor prepared musical accompaniment, new attributes for outdoor games (including homemade ones), invited one of the preschool employees to take part in the role of a bear - all this aroused genuine interest among the children. They respond to ideas to help the bear wake up correctly from sleep and want to tell him about a healthy lifestyle (what they themselves learned during Health Week). Note: the author of the video posted a short plan for Health Week in their kindergarten in the description of the video.

Video: art exhibition “Winter Fun” for Health and Sports Week

Presentation of drawings for the Week of Health and Sports, held in winter. Note to teachers: the exhibition organizers signed the works created jointly by children and parents as “Family Art Studio <…>” - it sounds original.

Video: holiday for children and parents at Health Week in the middle group

In terms of content, the holiday was composed competently. Several shortcomings in the organizational part: not all parents came in sports uniform, there were delays between the stages of the holiday, they could have been filled with at least dancing minutes, there was not enough musical accompaniment when awarding the participants.

Schedule and time plan of events

Traditionally, Health Week is held in kindergarten several times a year: in autumn and mid-winter, autumn and spring. In the second half of the school year, health-improving events and classes on healthy lifestyles are timed to coincide with World Health Day (April 7). Some preschool educational institutions plan Health Weeks in accordance with school holidays. Thus, continuity is ensured in preschool and primary school education: the tradition is not interrupted, sporting events are held on a common ground (preschool children are invited to the school stadium, kindergarten students and school students come to the park for “Fun Starts”, etc.).

For Health Day, children's children drew a poster about a healthy lifestyle

Directions for creating a plan for Health Week:

  1. The list of events is discussed and approved by the team and medical staff at pedagogical meetings.
  2. The event plan combines a variety of activities. It is recommended to conduct activities that involve increased physical and/or emotional activity in the first half of the day, and calm activities after a quiet hour. For example, in the morning the children got acquainted with unconventional exercises on step platforms, then participated in a sports quest on the street playground. Then in the afternoon the teacher repeats with them poems about the rules of hygiene (“Fedorino’s grief”, “The grimy girl”, “Moidodyr”) and offers to stage these stories in the theater corner.
  3. During Health Week, traditional classes are canceled (except for music and physical education - they are conducted in a non-classical form, using unusual materials and equipment).
  4. Under satisfactory climatic and weather conditions, the time children spend on the street increases; the plan includes outdoor activities: exercises, walking, outdoor games, competitions.
  5. Availability in terms of activities for parents.

Pupils of the preparatory group play on the kindergarten playground

The daily routine remains unchanged during Health Week: morning exercises, walks, music and physical education classes, meals and quiet time occur as scheduled. Traditional classes are replaced by health-improving activities or on a valeological theme. Therefore, the time frame for group activities corresponds to the timing of regular classes.

For example. A lesson on the world around us in the second junior group is replaced by a conversation “Why do you need to move a lot?” The duration of a GCD lesson for children 3–4 years old is 15 minutes. Accordingly, this time is allocated for a conversation with additional viewing of a cartoon about sports:

  • conversation - 7–8 minutes,
  • cartoon viewing and discussion - 7 minutes.

In the senior group, a conversation is held with the study of visual material (models, posters) about the structure of the human body and the functions of various organs

School, where are your friends?

This is my homeland!

Your mother's hands

The noise of branches and the sound of rain,

And in the garden, currants are also the Motherland!

- The homeland is a kindergarten, the street on which you live, your mother, father, our city, our region.

— Guys, this year marks the 69th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Today we know about the war from books, films, and memoirs of war and labor veterans.

— The Great Patriotic War began on June 22, 1941. The vile enemy suddenly attacked our country, without declaring war on us, violating the peace treaty. The Nazis hoped for an easy and quick victory. They wanted to seize the rich lands of our country and make the peaceful and hardworking inhabitants slaves. But they miscalculated; the entire people, young and old, stood up to defend their free, beloved Motherland. In those days, the call song “Get up, huge country” appeared. Listen to a fragment of the song:

“Get up, huge country,

Stand up for mortal combat

With fascist dark power,

With the damned horde."

-What is war? (children's answers)

“They say grief has its own smell.” War smells of fire and ash. War is bitter sweat, these are letters that people wait and are afraid to receive. War is a brief lull and young lives lost. These are unfulfilled hopes.

— There is no family in Russia that was spared by the war. On this day, every family remembers those who died on the battlefields and congratulates those who lived to see the great holiday.

During the war, Soviet soldiers saved not only our Russian children, but also children of other nationalities from hunger and death. Once our soldier saved a German girl from a bombing, and in honor of this feat, a monument to the Soviet soldier was erected in the city of Berlin.

(picture)

The war lasted for four long years. Our valiant army not only drove the Germans out of our land, but also liberated the peoples of other countries captured by Nazi Germany. Our soldiers reached Berlin, the capital of Germany. And there, on the very main building, which was called the Reichstag, our red flag of Victory was hoisted. The red banner was hoisted on the Reichstag building by Sergeant M. Egorov and Junior Sergeant Kantaria.

(picture)

The Victory Banner is a red banner, it has become a symbol of Victory. The red color of the banner signifies fire and courage. The banner depicts a hammer and sickle, as well as a five-pointed star. You can see the Victory Banner during the festive parade at the Eternal Flame.

(picture)

On May 9, 1945, the war ended, and that day became the brightest and most beloved holiday, Victory Day!

Recommendations for working with parents during Health Week

As already mentioned, Health Week involves active interaction between the kindergarten teacher, instructors and medical staff and parents. Please note that not all parents will be able to attend consultations in the evening. And if there are several such events, then the parent composition will thin out from time to time. Therefore, it is logical to schedule one consultation a week in the evening, it will be conducted by a physical education director or a nurse. In the first half of the day, parents are invited to open classes and morning exercises (presence is encouraged - the teacher prepares sheets of gratitude and certificates in advance).

The teacher places important information topics on a stand or in other printed form in the group’s reception room and encourages parents, grandmothers, and nannies to study the text while the children are changing clothes.

Forms of work with parents:

  • consultations,
  • survey,
  • invitation to participate in classes, master classes,
  • making crafts, posters, wall newspapers on healthy lifestyle topics with children,
  • distribution of information sheets, brochures, leaflets.

Teachers in our kindergarten lead groups in instant messengers (usually conversations on Whats'App), where they publish important current information for parents. During Health Week, photos of brochures, video instructions for performing gymnastic exercises, and craft topics are sent to chats. One of the teachers records consultations from the nurse on video and sends them to parents. This is convenient and evokes a positive response from parents: not everyone can attend a meeting or face-to-face consultation, but everyone can watch a ten-minute video.

Health Week is not an emergency set of measures to improve children's health. The teaching staff works every day to improve the physical and mental condition of children, instilling in them a desire to live actively, eat right, and relax profitably. Health Week is a celebration of sports and a healthy lifestyle. A week long holiday. It is necessary to prepare and organize this important week in such a way that children absorb as much useful information as possible and are charged with a positive mood for a long time.
