An interesting job for children is a rowan applique using the origami technique. This could be a group activity for fall-themed activities.
The work is simple, but it requires perseverance and time to make a certain number of rowan berries and leaves.
Materials used:
- Red colored paper;
- Green paper;
- Cardboard base of any color;
- Brown felt-tip pen, scissors, glue stick.
Rowan application step by step
To make a rowan branch using the origami technique, you will need 8-10 small red paper squares. And also 10 larger green squares.
Origami folding rowan berries
Take one red square.
And bend it quite a bit in the area of the corners, thereby making the square round. Don't fold the corners too big, as you will simply make the square smaller. And you need to fold a figure with the same 8 sides.
Turn all the red squares into berries.
Folding origami rowan leaves
Place a green square in front of you.
Fold it in half, corner to corner, to form a triangle.
Open the triangle and fold both sides, aligning them with the fold in the center.
After this, fold the sides again towards the center. First the right one.
Then left.
You will get this long rowan leaf, similar to an arrowhead.
Fold all the green triangles into the leaves. Work for children can be quite painstaking, although not difficult. In this case, creating an applique of a rowan branch can be turned into a collective endeavor.
Rowan application: final stage
Prepare base cardboard of any color. Of course, red and green are not the best option, so that the berries and leaves do not get lost against a similar background.
Draw with a brown felt-tip pen or glue a long paper branch, with branches at the end for berries.
Then add the berries themselves, and the leaves on the sides of the branches. That's it, the mountain ash applique is ready.
Will add to the TOP of autumn crafts for children.

We make a sprig of rowan from self-hardening plasticine. How to make a sprig of rowan
To work you will need Barbados yarn from Alize, Türkiye. If desired, such leaves can be spread out from the tops, but there will be more fuss.
We cut the yarn into pieces - we will need the untwisted parts.
We straighten each piece into a leaf shape.
Decorate with decorative fibers as desired. In this case, a branch of “winter” rowan was needed, I added white viscose.
Cover with a net, moisten with water, and soap. I use handmade soap from Elena Shirinova gla_mur, it has become even better - it just feels magical, and my hands are happy
