Unconventional foam painting technique in kindergarten

Unusual techniques and methods of drawing for children

Children really like unconventional ways of drawing. This contributes to the development of creative thinking, imagination, creativity, expanding ideas about the world around us, etc. And, like regular drawing, it develops fine motor skills of the hand, trains the muscles of the hand, and prepares the hand for writing.

After my daughter and I made colored rain (an experiment with shaving foam) and the rain stopped falling, foam remained in the glass. I invited my daughter to draw on it.

Lesson notes on non-traditional foam painting techniques.

Summary of an open lesson in the middle group. Unconventional technique of drawing with shaving foam “Ice cream for dolls”

Integration of educational areas

: “artistic creativity”, “cognition”, “communication”

Target

: introduce the non-traditional technique of foam drawing, development of integrative personality qualities.

Tasks

: Provide information about the sequence of drawing with shaving foam;

Develop fantasy and imagination in children;

Develop self-confidence in your creative abilities.

Materials:

shaving foam, sheets of paper with an image of an ice cream cone, bags, napkins.

Progress

:

A teacher comes in with a bunch of balloons and ribbons tied to them.

- Guys, have you ever flown in hot air balloons? Do you want to try it? Then come to me, grab the ribbons and fly!

If the balloon is pumped up,

Then he will fly.

I need to tie a thread,

To hold the ball.

Created for kids

Multi-colored balls.

- Oh, guys! Look where we found ourselves - this is a factory where they make ice cream for dolls. Let's come and have a look.

-You know, the workers of this factory told me in confidence that they had received a large order, but they did not have time to complete it and asked us to help them.

- Guys, can we help? Then go to the workshop, sit down at the tables

-Ice cream for dolls means we will be making it from fake ingredients. We take this foam and fill the bag with it, add PVA glue and paint here, mix thoroughly (I let the children mix, reminding them that they need to do this carefully so as not to break the bag). Guys, if the ice cream is red, what flavor does it have?

-Strawberry.

- Right. Children! When factory workers get tired, they take a break. Let's take a little rest, too. Get out on the mat ( physical training session with music)

- Time to rest and get to work! While we were resting, the factory employees prepared two more ice creams. What color are they? If the ice cream is yellow, it means it's banana, and if it's blue, it means it's grape. Now let's fill our horns. To do this, we will cut off the corners of our colored bags quite a bit. This is how we will apply the paint. We take a bag of strawberry ice cream, next to it is a different color, and on top is a third one. It turns out to be a pyramid of ice cream balls of different flavors.

-To make the ice cream balls even and neat, you need to stretch your fingers:

The children were very happy: (claps)

Mom brought it in a bag (we use our index and middle fingers to “walk” along the table)

Gingerbread for Mashenka,

Bagels for Sasha, (we bend our fingers one at a time)

Vasenka - cake,

Well, I'll have ice cream.

-Sit down straight, backs straight and get to work.

-Well done! Everyone did it very beautifully and neatly. And now, just like in a real factory, we need to put all the ice cream in a box and send it to the store.

Children put down their work one by one, the teacher asks what colors were used, what ice cream tastes like.

- Well, now all our ice cream will be sent to dolls

- Guys! did you like the lesson? What about flying in hot air balloons? Then I want to give you a balloon so that you can continue to travel.

-Goodbye, children!

Drawing on shaving foam

Shaving foam is a very unusual surface for drawing. The paint on it can be stretched and twisted into beautiful vignettes, curls and other patterns. The process is reminiscent of ebru (drawing on water), and each drawing is unique.

When drawing on shaving foam, the principle of monotype is used - drawing using unique prints (more information about this technique and our work with my daughter can be found in the article “Monotype for Children”)

Paper with such unusual patterns can be used for gift wrapping, for creating cards and panels, as a background for appliqués, etc.

Materials and tools:

  • a flat tray, lid or plate (you can even use a thick plastic bag),
  • shaving foam,
  • paints, acrylic is best, but liquid gouache can be used,
  • thin brush or toothpicks (matches are fine),
  • sheets of paper, preferably landscape or Whatman paper, but regular paper for office equipment is also suitable,
  • ruler or strips of thick cardboard.

How to draw on shaving foam

  1. Apply a little foam to a tray or plate and level its surface using a ruler or strip of cardboard.

  2. Drip paints of different colors onto the foam.

  3. Use a thin brush, toothpick or match to move across the surface of the foam in a chaotic manner (this method is suitable for children) or creating a specific pattern (this method is suitable for older children who have already played enough with chaotic lines).

  4. When the image is ready, attach a sheet of paper to it and press it so that the image is imprinted on the sheet.

  5. Carefully, so as not to spoil the design, remove the paper and place it with the design facing up for a few minutes to allow the paint to absorb.

  6. Remove any remaining foam from the drawing by running a ruler or cardboard over it.

  7. Leave the drawing to dry.
  8. The remaining foam can be mixed and painted on it again.

This is what we got as a result of painting with gouache:

  • flowers of unprecedented beauty,

  • northern lights,

  • Christmas tree for a New Year's card.

Abstract: the article discusses one of the non-traditional drawing techniques “Drawing with shaving foam.” This technique will be of interest to both preschool teachers and parents.

In the Federal State Educational Standard, an important role is assigned to the artistic and aesthetic development of preschool children. In this educational area the following tasks are solved:

— development of the child’s creative potential;

— development of imaginative, associative thinking;

— development of independent and creative activity.

Each teacher himself selects forms and methods for implementing this direction, taking into account the individual characteristics of children.

Working as a kindergarten teacher, I realized that developing creative potential has a beneficial effect on children. This process is interesting not only for children, but also for adults. In my work I often use unconventional drawing techniques. The term “non-traditional” implies the use of different, new materials, tools, drawing methods that are not traditional - generally accepted in the pedagogical practice of educational institutions.

There are many different non-traditional painting techniques. I want to introduce you to another unconventional technique, maybe someone knows about it, but I really liked it. This technique is “painting with shaving foam.”

In order to start using this technique, you need to prepare:

- album sheet;

- food paints or gouache;

— shaving foam (price and brand do not matter);

- PVA glue;

— disposable cups or any small containers for colored paints;

- brushes with stiff bristles or cotton swabs.

Initially, use a simple pencil to draw the outline of the drawing. Then, in a small container, mix the foam with PVA glue. The proportions of the ratio are different. If you want the drawing to remain voluminous after drying, then take glue and foam in equal proportions. The less glue, the more airy the design will be, but over time it will settle.

Next we paint our mixture. If the design is white (for example, a snowman or frosty patterns), leave the paint as is. If we need paints of different colors, we add food paints or gouache paints to the foam and glue.

Now you can start drawing. Apply the colored foam to the design using a cotton swab or a stiff brush. We scoop the foam from the container and then, as it were, remove it from a cotton swab or a hard brush onto the drawing.

Drawings made using this technique are voluminous and airy. Children paint with these unusual colors with pleasure. In addition, these paints are easy to wash off and smell pleasant.

These are the drawings we made using this technique:

Figure 1. Winter patterns

Figure 2. New Year's fantasy

Figure 3. Winter evening

Figure 4. Mushrooms in the forest

Figure 5. Collective work “Seals on Baikal”

Figure 6. Collective poster “Let's protect our common home from garbage!”

How to draw with shaving foam

Children can be encouraged to draw with shaving foam on vertical surfaces (always under adult supervision). Like finger paints, foam is used to paint with fingers and palms.

It is most convenient to draw in the summer at the dacha or in the bathroom, so that it is easier to clean up later. You can draw on surfaces that are easier to clean later - on glass (doors), mirrors, easels, trays mounted vertically, or in the bathroom - on tiles or on the bathtub itself.

During this activity, you need to carefully ensure that the child does not eat the foam or touch his eyes.

The exercise is useful because when drawing on a vertical surface, not only the same group of arm muscles is involved (i.e., trained) as when drawing on a horizontal surface, but also other muscles.

The foam can be colored by adding dyes to it.
